Goodell: There was no "deal" to reduce Brady's suspension. Kraft caved in on his "own initative"

This was a farce as we all expected it to be.

No one has the gall to ask the tough questions for fear of being blacklisted by the Dictator.

Absurd.

I still cannot believe there were people on this board who thought Goodell would see all the holes poked into the Wells report by Florio, Wells Report in Context, etc. and think he was going to see the light and start to turn against the report.

The simple fact is Goodell knows it is crap. He doesn't care it is crap. He knows the general public thinks it is cold hard proven facts with hard evidence that Brady and the Patriots are guilty and he will never admit that is crap because at best it would make him look incompetent.

He has always known since the 2 PSI fake leak came out, his only option was to nail the Patriots for something. Otherwise, he would have to admit his staff were either incompetent or out to get the Patriots. Basically, making Brady the fall guy takes the heat off of him.

So for all those folks who thought Goodell and Kraft made a deal. I guess this kind of clears that question up! Thanks Bobby, this is much better now!

Has he started laughing at Kraft yet?

I love this line from his press conference:

"I want to protect the integrity of the game. So I am going to crap on my integrity and the integrity of the NFL front office and act as arbitrator in Tom Brady's appeal."

Serious question: if Goodell can't be trusted, why should we take his word on anything?

MEDIA SO CHUMMY WITH GOODELL NOW.
EVERYBODY LAUGHING TOGETHER AND HAVING A GREAT TIME.

What a change from the Ray Rice fiasco.

Goodell owns and the NFL knows people are stupid

Robert "Toady" Kraft, Mission Accomplished!!!!

Agreed but not before throwing the **** in the fan big time.

The NFL needs a federal investigation.

If he took the league to court, destroyed them, exposed some corruption that got the antitrust exemption yanked, then dropped the mic and retired... that would be so awesome.

Part of me is hoping that Tom Brady retires... so he won't have to go through this ******** anymore

Not me. I hope Brady goes to court, and Kessler figures out a way to make this into a trial about Goodell's right to suspend, the conduct policy, his authority, the CBA and the Anti-Trust exemption, and then tops it off with defamation of character.
I want Brady to win 32 Billion dollars and bring the league to its knees.

Why no hard questions for him? The media certainly wasn't that easy on brady when he had his press conference. Why couldn't someone ask about reducing suspension do to all the holes in wells report etc? So frustrating!

I truly am sorry for anyone who thought anything good was coming out of this re: the Patriots. There was no deal. The end.

I would like to hear Goodell's definition of integrity, since it appears very different from its common usage. As far as I can tell his definition is tantamount to despotic totalitarianism. Several other leaders (outside the world of sport) have tried that approach, have failed and have been consigned to ignominy for eternity.

Goodell came out swinging and didn't acknowledge that there was anything wrong with the investigation. Pretty much saying Bob Kraft is his b**ch.
