Kraft and Deflategate. So, why did New England owner Robert Kraft capitulate Tuesday and say he’d accept the NFL’s punishment in the Brady/deflated-footballs case?

Two reasons: He didn’t have the stomach to go rogue, a la Al Davis, in the courts; Kraft, though bitterly disappointed in the NFL’s sanction of his team, doesn’t have the stomach to battle the league in what would be an ugly case. And Kraft’s a league guy.

The one thing I don’t know is whether something about Tom Brady’s defense, or Brady’s word, bothers Kraft. Only he would know that. But in the past two or three days, it’s become apparent Kraft would not challenge the league—much to the chagrin of so many Patriots fans.

and of course the first question he is asked
ARE THE PATRIOTS PERENNIAL CHEATERS? I am a Rams fan. And with “Deflategate” a hot topic, I can’t help but think about how this all started with the Patriots and where it went from there. The Super Bowl between the Pats and Rams in 2002 brought up questions about how the Pats seemed to know plays that the Rams had never used before. These questions were brought up by players like Kurt Warner and Marshall Falk, who to this day haven’t changed their minds at all in their opinions. The investigation ended when the NFL found “no evidence” and then destroyed the tape they had without making it public. Then there was “Spygate” and the Pats were found guilty. Now there is the latest scandal, in which there is only “circumstantial evidence” of guilt. I feel that the constant in all of this is the Patriots. So tell me, if other teams are cheating also, as has been alleged, then are the Patriots just too stupid to figure out how to cheat and not get caught? And since they’ve been accused so many times, how can they be so arrogant as to think they are being railroaded when the very nature of their team reeks of cheating for the past 15 years?

—Dennis F., Warrenton, Mo.

There is an overwhelming thought among some in the media and certainly among some fans. Patriots cheat, Patriots cheat some more, Patriots cheat even more after that. It has been fashionable to call the Patriots cheaters after Spygate. That made it open season. If anything, fans of the 31 other teams looked at any small instance—say, for instance, coaches’ headsets all going out at Gillette Stadium—and accused the Patriots of cheating. Sideline headsets go out in every stadium in the NFL. Does that mean that Cincinnati and Minnesota and San Diego are cheating when headsets go out in their stadiums?

The Patriots deserve the vitriol for Spygate and they may deserve the anger and skepticism of NFL fandom for the more recent ball-deflation scandal. I still don’t think it has been proven. But there is a mania in America that says any time there is a scintilla of evidence that something is fishy in Foxboro that the Patriots are cheaters. You can choose to believe that. I don’t

"Seemed to know plays that the Rams have never used before?" According to WHO?!? F.UCK THIS. You brought this on us Kraft, this is all your goddamned fault. Every single thing this team ever accomplished can now be scrutinized and slandered without hesitation. Every single Patriots player since 2001 should be ashamed about what Kraft did today. He threw their accomplishments under the bus. They are now all cheaters.

I am not cooling off from being mad, I am only becoming more furious as the reality continues to set in.

Honestly, Kraft being a huge giant ***** is what's best for the NFL.

If the Patriots had a 35 year old Al Davis for an owner, with Belichick as coach and the GOAT, Tom Brady, as quarterback, we would just be way too powerful and OP.

Having a ***** ass pansy owner is the balancing factor for having the two GOATs stomping out the league in a hoodie and a Pats uniform.

Bottom line is this....

This is the proof that the "Billionaire Boys Club" don't give a sh*t about the fans that have spent their hard earned money to make the NFL so successful, all they care about is how they can fleece us for every dollar they can.

What I'd like to see is this: When Kraft goes to raise the banner, everybody in the stadium is dead quiet while turning around and facing the other way. Kinda symbolic on how he turned his back on us, the fans.

the question is, why bother going to stadium at all, you think he cares if you turn your back ? all he cares is YOU PAID FOR YOUR TICKET, PARKING AND CONCESSION STAND. That is all he cares about

Sore losers gonna sore lose
This is what we all knew would happen, and it will continue as long as football is around. The patriots will be known as cheaters because of what that slim ball kraft did. I can't imagine what those who choose to watch are going to have to endure this year. The whole season, every game, they will be called cheaters, the four sb wins will be called into question. Damn, do i despise kraft now. Its like ive had something that i was proud of and cherished snatched away. The legacy is for ever tarnished.

I am not giving the coward a f*****g dime from this day forward.

What boggles my mind is why he would cast aside the team and all the fans, and argue that the interest of the League is more important to him than the honor of the franchise?!

^^ Because that.

I totally get what your saying about not attending the games...I'm only stating that the people who will go to the game to do this. I think it would be absolutely hilarious to see and watch the CBS analysts try and gloss that over.

I have a feeling there are going to be a few less Patriot stickers on cars around New England going forward.

Maybe Brady, BB and the Pats losing more games will make other fans like our team more.....

NAW..........

Sore losers gonna sore lose

you love for the patriots is tainted love my friend. we no longer can say things like sore losers are gonna sore lose, The patriots are multi time cheaters and major rule breakers. we are the most penalized team in nfl history(losing two first round picks here, losing a pick to the jets for BB) the patriots are the evil empire.

Cause he is a "team" player except for the wrong team ! Go owners o_O

Think about that for a minute

Bob Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, chose to do what was better for the Ravens, Colts, Jets, Broncos and Dolphins instead of doing what was better for the Patriots

If I can quote Bill Parcells, I just the up a little in my mouth

If Kraft doesn't have enough respect to stick up for his team, why should I? Let everyone call them cheaters now. Not my problem. If he doesn't care about the legacy of his team, then I shouldn't either. It is what it is.
