A Positive Thought, If You Want It

Yes I suppose so - if Kraft could magically make us all win all our bar arguments, that would be nice. :)

If Kraft makes us all magically lose every bar argument, that will be annoying. :)

Now then... remember... you could be a Jaguars fan. I mean it's numerically unlikely, given that there are something like 5 of them in the country... but you could.

Well, I'm certainly glad you're staying positive! At least this thread has made my day a little better

Well freakin' GOOD!

They can say what they want, what the f*** else is new. I was there (well, in front of the TV) for the last 15 seasons - and another 30+ before that - and I'll be damned if a disappointing amount of pluck from a billionaire or a millionaire will eff up my fanhood. That's what they want.

Well no actually what they really want is my money, but I meant the other fans.

Everyone seems to be able to surmise something from Krafty's contrition speech today. They think he got Brady something, or he is planning something. Or worst of all he is doing it for the betterment of the team.

Well, all I see is the same passive, contrite, gutlessness that was on full display for Spygate. There is no plan, no deal, no betterment for the team. There is just the jingle of the 50 silver pieces as he rubs elbows with his brethren.

A man who was a fan of this team, of this coach, and of these players cannot justify an act of betrayal to all of them and the fans. Today, a part of my enjoyment of this team died. And it's going to take more than time to get it back.
When the season starts this betrayal will be remembered. Next draft it will return again to raise its ugly head. And if Brady is lost for 4 games, I will never ever forgive or forget.

What he got was an increase in the likelihood that more teams will levy false accusations and then leak that info to the media, the NFL will find them guilty with no evidence, and then use this and spygate to suspend BB, take away a 1 st and 2 nd rounder, and fine the team 2M.

this was inevitable

sooner or later kraft was going to completely sell out the fan base

I just honestly don't care anymore.

I understand. I really do. In fact, I wrote my post yesterday because I was feeling (and still largely feel) sort of dead inside over this. And the main thought I had (which I guess I sort of buried) was that I will feel better over time. Time does heal, and even though the haters (never thought I'd use that stupid word) will always hate, that will bother me less over time too.

As of now, still feeling mostly dead...but even with just one day, I find myself getting a little annoyed with the wailing and gnashing of teeth here. You all think other owners haven't done things that pissed fans off before? You're not going to be fan anymore? Well that will make the haters from other teams happy, is that what you want? Hell with that. I'm starting to move into let's stop whining territory.

A positive thought or two, I should say. On a day of so much misery, what the hell.

Football is a great game. It’s wonderful entertainment, and Patriots’ football has given us all a tremendous amount of joy for a long time. The game is still great, and when the weather turns cool this fall, it’ll be great to have back, the evil of the league and the cowardice of Bob Kraft aside.

Today sucks. Losing a first round pick sucks, but it’s not the end of the world. Brady will play this season, and the Pats will be ready to raise hell come playoff time (they’ll figure out the secondary). Don’t worry about a lingering effect on the players from this. Trust in Bill on that.

To those saying the team is tarnished, now we’re officially cheaters, and other nonsense? Stop. Other fans hated us before. They hate us now. They’re rejoicing in our misery. Suck it up. We know what we know. Kraft caving doesn’t change that. And you know what? 99% of other fans’ teams suck. Why do you think they’re obsessed with us? With you? I never even think of them.

Listen: time heals. The current owner let us down. But this pain will fade. There will be other owners. Who is the team to you? Is it Robert Kraft? No. It’s those 53 guys in the uniforms, led by the best QB to ever play the game, and that one guy in a hoodie. Through the dark days over many years to the glory days of the past 15. That’s why we watch.

So take a day, or two, to be pissed, depressed, whatever. If you spent money on the Pats and don’t want to do that for awhile, fair enough.

But not be a fan? Sorry, not an option for me. It’s in my blood. Brady. Belichick. Super Bowl champions. They ain’t taking that away from me. Four Super Bowls. And counting.

I’m here to stay.
Thanks I needed that!

And that my friends is the beauty of this board. I have been reeling since yesterday and it will take time to get over this but Thankfully we have Bill and TB and the other 52 to return too.

@aluminum seats How is being angry at your owner for selling out the team "whining"?

It's not. Poor wording. And like I said, I get it--I'm there too, really. So I'm probably being a little schizophrenic about this--I go back and forth. I guess to me the tone of board is so overwhelming freaking out, I'd like to see a little balance....do you know how many fan bases suffer for decades with truly terrible owners, management, coaches, teams? Do we understand how great we've had it? This pain (and it's real) inarguably stems from the fact that we've had it so good! That's why we're the target. So I guess I'm just saying, let's take a breath here...and the last thing I want to do is provide happiness to the envious hordes out there. F that.

The betrayal will be forced front and center every week, every single game, starting with the pre-game shows. What do we expect topic no. 1 to be of every 'analyst' and every broadcaster? There will be no escape from the din of 'Patriots cheated. deflated footballs'
