I bet you Brady's suspension gets dropped altogether.....The NFL cannot afford an entity that has the ability to put forth definitive proof to put forward the definitive proof if it happens to completely absolve Brady.

Why? Because if Brady is completely innocent (and I believe he is) then that puts Kraft in the unenviable position of colluding with the other owners by willingly agreeing to punitive damages against his own team when there was no real basis to do so.

I wonder what BB has to say about this, or is he bound by the 'brotherhood' of the ownership?

I tend to agree. I don't think the league wants the NFLPA and Brady in front of a judge. The best way to advert this is to rescind the Brady penalty.

That is my take as well, since shortly before Kraft began his ill fated walk to the podium. He capitulates, Brady's suspension gets dropped. Kraft tries to take solace in his fan base believing he fell on his sword for Brady. Goodell avoids the discovery process of a court case, or even a more aggressive appeal. The NFL gets Brady playing on opening night. The case is closed. Worst possible outcome for fans, and honestly not great for Tom, who is now percieved as having gotten off only as part of an unspoken bargain.

What would be funny is if Roger drops Brady's suspension all together and then Brady files a deformation law suit against the league. Not sure if that could happen but that would be funny.

Of course it could happen. Whether he wins is a different story but in an odd way Kraft caving if collusion could be proved would probably seal his case.

Take this for what its worth. BUTTTT

Jason Cole is reporting that the NFL is considering reducing Brady's suspension to 3 games or 2 games tops.

there is no way that the NFL rescinds the suspension altogether. he will get 2-3 games, and I hope that brady continues to fight this.

That would be stupid and meaningless, Brady would sue anyway even if they halved the suspension. He won't be happy until he has 0 games, and even then he may still sue for defamation.

It's a good point, guys on WEEI raised it this morning...if this gets in front of a judge and they find that the Wells report was biased and there's no grounds for suspension or sanctions then the team penalties are called into question. No way does it end well if an independent arbiter gets his hands on this (well, not for the league and Kraft, that is :) ).

I would be very disappointed if this happens. TB12 is not a quitter and i believe dropping his suspension without completely clearing his name is not something he will accept. Roger the Dodger may reduce his Suspension but will never completely clear TB12 and that will not fly.

If Brady drops the appeal he will join the ranks of Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Lance Armstrong and Rosie Ruiz.

Forever.

Well, if I understand it correctly, if falsely accusing an athlete of cheating could be construed as defamation per se, then Brady wouldn't have to prove damages (although he'd still have to meet the "actual malice" standard) even if the suspension were lifted. Of course, if the suspension does happen, then he has clear damages he can sue for.

If I were Brady I'd still sue for defamation. The impact of this whole witch hunt on a potential post-football media career for him is huge. Big money to be made in a lawsuit.

I think the league would gladly pay some amount defamation damages if they can avoid a challenge to the CBA
