Pretty much agree. Court was the nuclear option b/c of the public feces-slinging it would involve. God knows how disillusioned we could be by the end of that, but as you say, we'll never know. (Think of how much you hate both candidates in an election after 6 months of negative campaigning.)
I don't think so because pretty much all of the mud to sling had been slung against the patriots, against the NFL front office it seemed as if it was about to begin and then, well we all know what happened today

Actually, nothing. A billionaire made a statement. It was disappointing. There wasn't a football game though.

I'm thinking that's what I follow football for.

It's more than obvious from the big owners that they support Goodell, and that's not even bringing up the fact that he's increased their profits, improved their year-round attention, made it a global brand, and done an awful lot to make the owners happy.

The FANS of the league may not be happy with the work of Goodell, but the owners are. Either way, there certainly wasn't anything here that would make opposing owners feel that he should've been fired over the (alleged repeat offending) evil Patriots. That day may have eventually come out in court had a bunch of negative stuff come out against the league, but now we'll never know.

When did this team ever quit at half time? You say you are a fan but you quit when the game is only half over

i understand if this sledding is too tough for you and many others.
Go find the fix for your sports addiction somewhere else where all the paths are smooth and down hill forever.
But know this, this is not over. TB12 is not near done and unlike Mr Kraft he lets his actions speak for themselves. i am a believer that the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS will win SUPERBOWL 50 and TB12 will for the fourth time be MVP. You want to miss that go head. i would not miss it for the world.

Please show me any suggestion of "quitting" as a fan, or anything even remotely close to it? What the hell are you even talking about?

I mentioned the obvious fact that Goodell's job was never in jeopardy, as insinuated on this forum. I pointed out that the owners appreciate him for stuffing their pockets full of money, while the fans do not like him--and rightfully so.

The two subjects aren't even remotely related on any level. Your comment does not make a bit of sense.

Sorry i seem to have responded to the wrong post my apologies.

But strong post, even if totally aimed at the wrong target!

I now regret pulling back on a post I was ready to post a couple of days ago, a post that sort of outlined the difs between Al Davis & Robert Kraft (I have a little insight). I decided that it would probably PO Pats fans so I deleted my words and walked away w/o a post. I'll give the basics I now wish I had posted:
Al was only concerned about the Raiders as a winning franchise, not the league. He did serve as the AFL commish, had designs of do the same after the merger, but it never eclipsed his role w/the Raiders. That was his life. He went rogue and dumped ideas of ruling the league for the good of his team. He was an honest and genuine human being, something that far too many ever took the time to learn. In today's Internet age, he be slammed.
Kraft's concerns are about the NFL 1st. He got his Pats wish and then wanted more. That's not a bad thing or, as BB might say, it is what it is. Davis could be satisfied being the owner of an NFL team, but Kraft won't be satisfied unless he controls the NFL. Again, nothing wrong about it, but those are the difs, as I see it. I knew one, but not the other.

I'll watch the pats because what else am I going to do while frying wings and smoking ribs?

I hope that patriot place becomes a failure

I can and never will abandon the Patriots, was with them through the "lean" years.. and will continue no matter what happens... when I abandoned the Browns in the very early 70's have never looked back.

As much as I do not agree with Kraft, and the anticipated subsequent fall out.. he does not seem to have the "stones"for this kind of fight..so in a way I respect the man, but deplore his action.

I do not think that this is at all connected to #12's penalty, but it does give credence to the appearance of impropriety for Goodell as arbitrator.. this "impartial" arbitrator cannot be seen as sitting and conversing with the owner and then be the seen as an independent person making decisions on Brady.

His decision not to contest this will be viewed as an admission of guilt in many circles.. even if he used the words "reluctantly accept"... it does not make it better or ease the pain of being tainted. He could have qualified his decision more by saying.. "completely disagree with the findings" or "we could have shown the ineptitude of the Wells Report" or something else..

I do think it is time for Bob to pass the torch to Jonathan...

1. I have plenty of theories on the WTF Kraft statement. Probably the least deluded way to put it is that he decided that dropping the appeal was best for him. That is all that we know. He claims his interests align with the team's and the fans'. This is an unproven and unprovable statement..

It is more probable than not that Krafts interest does not align with the team's and the fans.

Kraft is at least generally aware of this.

Greedy snake that he is. He'll be scared stuff that Tom Brady will expose something about the league that'll hurt the masquerade sham they are all a part of!

I survived Yawkey, Multiple Sullivans.
Fan through that, fan for life.

Just Start The Season.
Never been more ready.
*
Various thoughts;
Not happy, feel betrayed.
Badly played, prior defiant posture had me up for a battle.
(I read that a team penalty has never been over-turned? Is this correct?)

Final Jeopardy questions:
Why did NFL release the Mortensen lie?
and then never correct it?

105 days.
.3 psi

Never forget.
**************
Next,
1) BB gets the men focused on 2015.
2) Brady's lawyers carry on.

Next MMQB:
"Wildfire assumption of secret deal, means goodell cannot change penalty".

"Appearance of integrity".

Is that, like five haikus stacked on top of each other. Either way, it's a like.

Look Brady's suspension was getting overturned, either if Goodell appointed an independent arbitrator or if the NFLP had to go to court.

There was no reason for Kraft to cut any deal for Brady! remember the Jets got fined $100,000 for the most blatant case of tampering, Evah! Something they have been caught doing at least twice before. On the other hand, the NFL could find no evidence of an occurrence due to that pesky science tha backs up the PSI, and they took yet another first round pick from the Pats, suspended the greatest QB of all time and labelled the team cheaters for all time!

Kraft just killed the Patriots, he would have been better off selling the team back to Billy Sullivan.

What "deal" could he have cut? "I appeal" "go ahead" "Bad punishment" "Appeal denied" "Anything else?"

Others are rationalizing Kraft's surrender to the fact that he made some back room deal to surrender if the league would lessen Brady's punishment.

I think that is wrong, Brady is playing in the opener, as long as the NFLPA takes this to court. So Kraft has no reason, other than his own wallet, to surrender to the NFL. I'm so disgusted with him, he has basically given credibility to all the Patriots are cheaters talk. I wouldn't be shocked if down the line asterisk start appearing next to the Pats Super Bowl wins.

This is so ridiculous! Both the 49ers and the Broncos were punished because they paid players money on the side to get around the salary cap, something that surely gave them an advantage and was clearly against the rules. the Pats got caught videotaping from a spot 30 feet away from where it would have been legal to do so, and now played a game in weather cold enough to lower the PSI of the balls used.

I still can't believe Kraft caved on spy gate, but this on is just so bad, he has basically labeled his team cheaters. Nice going ***hole!

I'd love to see it but I'm skeptical. If Deflategate tells us anything it's that THE FIX IS IN and THE OFFICIALS ARE COMPLICIT.

Do you really think the Pats can go an entire season overcoming every screw job bad call in every critical game and situation that will inevitably go against us?

This is definitely worse than super Bowl 42. We fought then. We caved yesterday. I don't really care if we win or lose but that we fight for 60 mins.

I'm still a fan of everyone associated with the patriots organization sans Bob Kraft.

Here is the real serious question for me. What do I really tell my children.
