Patriots fans were bracing for an epic Deflategate throwdown between Robert Kraft and Roger Goodell. But good (?) news. They hugged it out and everything's going to be okay.

Except for the draft picks. They don't get those back. And the million dollars. Kraft's still gotta pay that. Oh, yeah, and Tom Brady is still suspended for four games. Plus everyone still thinks they’re cheaters.

Seriously. What happened?!?

Are you mad? You should be. Unless there's some quid pro quo (and I highly doubt it), Robert Kraft just picked his billionaire buddies over you. Simple as that.

BOO THIS MAN EVERY TIME YOU SEE HIM.

HE SUCKS.

Naw. Alzheimers is awful enough. JON-A-THAN.

I've spent 14 or 15 year defending the Patriots, from tuck rule*, through "system" QB, through explaining camera placement -gate, through explaining the ideal gas law to idiots. If you do not defend yourself, why am I defending you?
(* The word "rule" means something. :) )

Most Dedicated in the NFL, I would vote for the Browns fans, or even Buffalo, I mean cmon.

Yeah. I agree. Raiders too. There's a lot of folks who don't remember the days (not so long ago either) when the Patriots were the #4 show in town, and by a pretty long shot.

That said, I like the article a lot.

Rooting for a ****ty team isn't a prerequisite for being a dedicated fan, or proof that you're a dedicated fan.

I don't want to pile on, just came by to gauge the boards reaction because I'm weird that way.

But I'll play along, What Makes Pat fans the most dedicated and loyal of all the NFL?

We are all aware are we not that there is a dozen I am done with the Pats type of threads on the front page as I type.

Seahawk fans, Cowboy fans, Colts, Broncos, even Jet fans love there teams and support them.

I don't think Pats fans necessary are the most dedicated and loyal in all of the NFL. I think every fanbase has a ton of good fans and a ton of crappy ones, and I don't really know or care how to compare them against each other.

What I do know is that there's no nobility in rooting for ****ty teams. It doesn't make you a better fan. My first 15 years as a sports fan consisted almost entirely of rooting for ****ty teams, and I wasn't made a better fan by it. As a kid, Cam Neely and Reggie Lewis, so let's just say those weren't good times. When the Celtics and Bruins suddenly won titles after mostly sucking for the previous two decades, their fans didn't suddenly trade in their "true fan" membership cards. When the Jets finally stop sucking--assuming that ever happens--you won't be a worse fan for it.

And as far as the "I am done with the Pats" threads, the people making those arguments are generally some of the best and most devoted Pats fans I know. You've been here long enough that I would think you'd know it. I'm sure you recognize a lot of the names. We're not jumping ship over a bit of adversity. We're furious that our owner apparently doesn't care even a fraction as much about his team and its legacy as we do. I'll support my team through decades of ineptitude if that's the hand I'm dealt, but I'm going to support an owner who simply doesn't care about his franchise or fans.

Well that's quite reasonable, I will not disagree with any of that.

The thread title just hit me as pompous an arrogant. But emotions are running high now. A little hyperbolizing should be expected.

Gun, you have to know that this isn't the time for stuff of this nature.

I assume you mean posting by a rival fan, and by Patsfans.com standards I suppose you are correct.
With all due respects I will leave. No disrespect intended (or maybe just a little).

Hey, I wish you were around more often, but you know what would happen to your account if roles were reversed and you'd done this on a Jets forum. You'd already have been banned for life. I'd prefer you be able come around and talk a bit of trash come game times.

You poor guy, while winning SB 36, as a fan, you had to endure the torture of a referee making a correct, albeit controversial call (Tuck). And then Stalingrad, where you had to survive the impossible, whereby your young star was being labeled as a "system QB". Fans from every other NFL must be laughing at your whining.
