Don't hate on Kraft just yet

What? He chose the league over his team, his QB and his employees.

How does it come out if Goodell stands behind it and Kraft gives up fighting it?
Are you expecting Wells to say 'just kidding'?

Its over. Kraft quit. There is nothing left to play out.

He chose 31 other fan bases and the league over us as Patriots fans.

I have never seen a transcript so insulting to a fan base.

When did the league expand to 33 teams? If it didn't how someone can talk about the "32" and think we "are better off" is beyond comprehension.

Consider the fans on the other end of the spectrum? Why?

The talk about going to the first meeting in Orlando is beyond insulting. Great...he gets goose pimples. Now have the other 31 idiot owners buy his tickets and merchandise.

This is nothing but a full blown betrayal of all loyal fans. Hopefully, Brady and Belichick soon depart and we can be done with this mess.

These are the type of people who join cults like the one in Jonestown. People are just desperate to believe that there's something more and they're part of it.

I haven't yet thought of a plausible scenario in which Kraft got enough back in return for giving up his leverage.

And yes, I know that that leverage was greatly circumscribed by the franchise contract(s).

I understand.

Can you consider how much leverage Kraft would lose with his personal friends (the owners) and the league if Kraft were to sue the league?

I'm sure that you understand that the BYLAWS of the NFL specifically forbid a team to sue the league. You really expected Kraft to violate the bylaw of the league, in addition to opposing the power of the commissioner that he personally fought for?

Please understanding that opposing the league and suing the league when you don't get your way would put Kraft in the company of exactly ONE owner, Al Davis. Only Al Davis has opposed the league in the way that posters here expected Kraft to.

Kraft chose to accept his role as an owner, and to accept the role of the Commission that he fought for in the negotiations with the players. Kraft is very angry, and indicated that if he made the decision last week, he would have fought the decision. He waited and made what he thinks is the best business decision. Kraft does NOT want less influence and power for the commissioner's office. That can be debated in the next CBA. For now, Kraft did what was in the interests of the 32 teams, and in the interests of the NFL.

Not easily, because I have trouble seeing what leverage he had, given how badly his team was shafted by them.

Goody should appoint Kraft as the arbitrator.

You cannot justify this. Kraft sold his team down the drain. I'm sure the owners told him to take the punishment or else. He is not a man of honor. He has nothing but love of money. He sold his soul and threw TFB to the wolves. That is unforgiveable

I think Goodell acted reasonably with Kraft, and said that if indeed Brady's people convincingly debunk the Wells report, then he will cut back on the team sanctions as well, without Kraft having to go through the rigmarole of filing a formal team appeal.

Now, mind you, Goodell is an idiot and has it in for Brady and the Pats, so this won't happen. But my hunch is that is what Kraft is working with: Goodell basically said "If you pull the team out of this, oficially, that won't stop me from reducing the penalty on the team."

Kraft went along with it.

The only person more naive about the world they live in then sansa stark right now is you.

Then again this whole forum was naive before with only a few members realizing Goodell would stifle Kraft and make him give in.

Maybe this is a reverse effect kinda thing? ;)

Yes. The answer is zero.
Yes, you agree with the vase majority posting here.

They would rather have an owner like Al Davis and a team like the Raiders. Al Davis is the only other owner ever to sue the league,

The NFLPA is going to try and prevent Goodell from taking the appeal. How, pray tell, will Goodell be cutting back on the penalty if the NFLPA wins?

The deals already been made.

Brady will drop the appeal and get 2 games if Kraft bends over and lets Roger drive for a while. A million buck Kraft is nothing. Popcorn profit for the year will pay that.

No, mg, I agree with common sense. You may recall that the NFL once sued Jerry Jones.

They would rather have an owner like Al Davis and a team like the Raiders. Al Davis is the only other owner ever to sue the league,

And now you're bringing up a straw man.

So it's either a ****y like Kraft or a moonbat like Davis. There's no room in between. Got it.

The delusion in the OP is strong, it is

Stop doing shady **** and daddy wouldn't have to fight their battles.

You think that it's common sense to sue the league in violation of its bylaws. OK. You are certainly entitled to that view.

The reality is that the team will play the 2015 and the next and the next and the next. Many of the players will be gone. Eventually, the coach will be gone. You can choose to be a patriot fan, a fan of another team, or not follow the NFL at all.

The choice is yours to make. As has happened over time, many will leave. Many new fans will come.
========
In the meantime, you can use whatever language you want to criticize the owner and the league. Hopefully, Ian will archive all this nonsense so that we look at in a couple of years, when patriot fans have long forgotten all this nonsense.

This really would have been different Kraft would have been fighting for his teams reputation. I would not give my reputation up easily. He did. The team is indelibly branded as cheaters. It taints everything and he rolled over.
