Kraft to speak at 1PM

  • The only thing that could change my mind about what Kraft did today is if Brady's suspension gets overturned AND they announce he had no knowledge or involvement in any cheating whatsoever thus clearing his name. That doesn't seem very likely.

I've got to laugh at the people who thing this media blitz ends...now it gets ramped up and the focus turns solely on Brady and his legacy... he's been sold out like every fan..

I laugh at the "There must be some back room deal" stuff though... there's nothing, nada. If anything, Brady's got a tougher time now.

Also, if those two ball boys indeed did nothing, their reputations have been tossed by Kraft as well too. "Owner of the fans" ...lol he just threw those guys with the rest of the fanbase under the bus.

Nothing today changed Brady's fight. His fight was to get this in front of a neutral, non NFL party to look at it fairly and decide. How is Kraft deciding he wants to be a milquetoast well behaved member of the 32 have anything to do with Brady's avenue of justice? Unless Brady decided it is easier just to settle the matter and move on, this thing ain't over! It is only over for the team, not the player (two distinctly different entities).

Worst day in Patriot's history. The day Kraft is no longer the Pat's owner will be a happy rebirth of the Patriots. Not one day sooner. I really wish Brady and Belichick would just retire right now to **** over Kraft like he ****ed the fan base over. Way to go Kraft, you spineless ****, yesterday's interview with King now looks like such a joke, and a complete load of ********.

I wish Kraft had Twitter, I would rip him a new *******.

i sure hope you are right.

this did not go the way i expected it too but as a fan, i can only do and say so much.

lets hope Brady gets the appeal and then goes on to destroying the NFL this season.

GO PATS

It's still absurd to think that air in footballs has alienated the owner from the fan base of one of the most popular teams in the world.

This sucks. I believe the Pats will matter less to me now.

Doesn't seem likely? It doesn't even rise to the level of snowball's chance in hell.

Why do posters (not directed at you) think 32 owners getting together to speak has anything to do with a player's avenue for justice? In matters like this the 32 and the player are more adversaries not partners to discuss a deal/what's best. Brady has a league hearing coming up - I'd be shocked if that has changed.

IMHO any reach out by the 32 to Brady's legal team yesterday/today was met with 'if the deal starts with "Brady did nothing wrong" we have a deal. Otherwise go F yourself. Brady has very little reason to be a good member of anything that has to do with the '32 lodge', has little incentive to cave, and has tangible avenues for getting justice. IMHO this thing isn't over...

If the foundation was always this shaky, best to be done with it in one agonizing blow. I have no use for a drawn out tragedy.

Kraft can sell the pats to one if the celtics owners please.

They give unconditional support

Was told by a high-ranking NFL source that Kraft's decision to stand down does not include a deal on Brady. Surprising to me.

It's very simple. Assuming this ends up in court and not just Roger's court. Kraft becomes a credible witness for the defense. It opens up a line of questioning as to whether the NFL operated in good faith. If Kraft says "no", then his acceptance of guilt comes into question and he hurts his credibility as a witness to Brady. If he says "yes", then he supports the NFL's notion of operating in good faith.

It certainly is important in a court of law how he handles his end of the issue and it 100% affects Brady's ability to defend himself in court.

Think about it, what is Brady's incentive to acquiesce before the NFLPA sanctioned hearing that should happen soon? IMHO Brady would be doing the players wrong to cave. I believe he has a duty to take this, at minimum, to the hearing. And, hopefully, the NFLPA agrees that Emperor Goody hearing this himself is a travesty and this should be fought outside the NFL.
Except for the expense to Brady for the legal team, I assume Brady hires the team then plays football (let his legal team take care of the rest).

I think the collective Message Board may be over-reacting a bit. I've gotta think there's a quid pro quo involved...and that Kraft has no compelling reason to get in front of the cameras otherwise. The chronology of events could be as follows:

Last 2 weeks: the brouhaha we're all familiar with...
This week: NFL meetings in Orlando
Today: Kraft and Goodell make peace
Today: Kraft announces, after careful consideration, he will not sue the League
Today and tomorrow: media swarming all over the subject, offering all sorts of opinions from "guilty as charged" to classy move
Later this week: Goodell announces a more lenient punishment for both the Patriots and Brady (doesn't he only have 10 days from the day Brady appealed?) whereby he acknowledges the continued leadership of Kraft while showing himself to be a "bigger man"...able to recognize the punishment may not have been fairly applied and even crediting Kraft's remarks of today in his decision-making process on the appeal.

Note: this doesn't necessarily change Brady's strategy...I'm guessing...unless he is fully exonerated.

Ofcoarse there is a reason for Kraft to get on stage, he needs to pretend that he is accepting the punishment instead of being forced to shut his mouth...

Come on folks, think this through. A team and a player are two distinct entities. A player is a member of the NFLPA, a team is a member of the conference that just took place in SF.

So the 32 get together. At the get together Kraft says I'll fall on the sword my emperor! So the Emperor calls up Brady and they magically reach a deal? Brady just rolls over for a game or too reduction?
Remember this, the NFLPA is now involved. A phone call to clear this up with everyone isn't in the cards. The appeal is happening and is being heard by Goodell. Remember, unlike Kraft's options, Brady has filed a formal appeal that he is innocent. It isn't over until at minimum that is heard and I would be shocked if it ends there. Hell, never even mind Brady, the NFLPA must be seeing that Goodell is reasserting he will be punishment decider and hear the appeals too, and understand this can't be just meekly accepted.

Not surprising to me at all, Kraft is a weasel who took it fully up the ass. Doesn't care about anything or anyone, only about the all mighty dollar.

Anyone who thought these supposed negotiations going on behind the scenes yesterday were anything more than Goodell saying, "hey let's make a deal, you back down, and we can be friends again.", were fooling themselves. EASIEST negotiations ever for Goodell.

Goodell to Brady, "why should I reverse your suspension when your team owner accepted his penalty and didn't want to appeal?"
