Reiss has lost his mind

I really hope you're right....I love a good fight.

there's not going to be a fight

the league has more impetus for closing the book on this than do the pats.......with every passing moment, common sense gains upper hand on the original accusation. it is in the pats interest to have more and more coming to the surface.

the only scenario that I can think of that implicates the pats is that while the balls may not have been handled properly, there was nothing actually wrong with them at the start of the game.

I would not be surprised that based on the current info, that McNally and JJ are a couple of goofballs who who failed to do what they were told to do BEFORE the refs checked the balls pregame, so they decided to take care of it AFTER....if anything, the texts paint a picture of dumb and dumber

I also think that the ball deflation thing was an actual setup and that Kensil knew the Ideal gas low and tried to use it against the pats......

So the league being accountable for their irresponsible actions and ignorance during this whole circus would be enough for Kraft? Come on Mike Reiss, we are way past that point.

And I'm not really buying the idea that there is some negotiation going on now. That would have and should have occurred prior to the punishment being announced. Kraft himself seemed somewhat resigned to this after his initial comments regarding the Wells report.

I don't see how the league can now offer anything significant as far as a reduction in penalty goes just after they have imposed it. Besides, their intentions and methods are quite obviously based on public opinion including that of the rest of the league and Goodell has significant support right now.

What's interesting is that I met up with a bunch of friends who aren't Pats fans but aren't haters either and all of them supported Goodell's punishment. When I asked why, they all referred to Wells conclusion and the Pats 'history'. But when I asked about the Wells report, it was clear none of them read it (I wouldn't expect it) and their understanding of 'facts' were totally wrong. They also weren't interested in hearing much more about it or the obvious issues with the findings. I think this small sampling can be extended to the masses.

As ugly is it might get, I think Kraft and Brady should pursue this in court as necessary and expose the investigation and the NFL office.

Jebus... if that's all we're going to get, maybe we can negotiate up to this: All penalties remain the same, but Gostkowski gets one free kick to Goodell's balls.

I'd pay good money to see that!

My personal opinion and what i think kraft does are two separate things
It sounded like you were saying what Kraft SHOULD DO not predicting what he will.

Someone ought to write to Reiss and tell him that hs blog was hacked by someone from the NFL.....

So let me get this straight.

Someone dings your car.
You get out of your car and scream at him then, that person beats you to within an inch of your life, steals your life savings, screws your wife, publishes nude photos of you on the internet. The police charge you with harrassment for screaming at him.
You go to a pretrial conference and are offered 10 years in jail for harrassment but the other person will write a letter to you saying it was wrong to ding your car.

At this point, I would consider crowdfunding Reiss' salary ever year in order to get him away from ESPN.
After that article, I would help with crowdfunding his psychological treatment.

I like Reiss, but I think he works so hard to be level headed and balanced he forgets that sometimes the only correct response is anger, and the only acceptable outcome is justice. Hopefully Kraft won't make the same mistake.

Reiss also comes up with the genius logic that while the NFL should admit they lied and covered up the facts publicly that Kraft was wrong to say that if there is no proof anything was done wrong he wants an apology.

I don't even think Reiss is suggesting the League admit to lying. I think he is saying Kraft would be happy if the League admits to making honest mistakes. No way would Goodell admit that the League lied.

So Reiss thinks that Kraft would be happy with a compromise where the League was labeled incompetent while the Pats are cemented as cheaters?

Mike does work for ESPN, only so much he can probably do before he gets Bill Simmons'd.

well. i kind of am. gotta think of it as if you were in his shoes. what would you do. you have a billion dollar business. youre in a league that essentially prints money for your owners. you have been smeared. how far do you want to go? is it worth it?

maybe it is worth it. but if he can get the penalties down a little bit it might be worth it for him. i dont know. what i do know is that no matter what if we reach a settlement, we will still face loss of picks and money.

and when you think about it, no matter what happens the public perception is patriots will look like cheaters. people outside of us patriots fans want to beleive we cheated and nothing will change their mind unless goodell admits the report is bull crap and was tilted in a way to make patriots look bad. which will not happn.

'Much like the lockout four years ago, there’s a bridge to be built here' ...m reiss.

Theres no bridges to be built here if kraft believes brady and the team did nothing wrong. Allowing goodell and the league to tarnish the reputation of brady and the team for 103 days of leaks and innuendo? Then letting some of the punishment stand for an apology? No way would i remain a fan. From the start this whole thing was an effort by goodell too resurrect his image, he knew he could go after the patriots and the mob would cheer him on. He created this mess or at least helped, so no bridges have to be built if all the pats get in return is a 'i'm sorry' about what happened but the sanctions remain in place.
This would be nothing but a shake down of the patriots by goodell and the league

He doesn't lose his business if he sues. In fact he probably increases it's value by endearing himself to his teams fans.

That is not a certainty at all. If he went to court, or arbitration, it is very possible the court would feel the evidence is not sufficient to warrant the penalty.

So the innocent man should not try to prove his innocence because those with an agenda will not believe him anyway?
Goodell may not have to admit the report is crap (we all know it is) and independent arbiter or judge easily could.

This is what drives me crazy.
Science proves they did nothing wrong. Wells conclusion is biased, uneducated and flat out wrong.
Why would you be building a bridge between what happened and some morons misinterpretation of it?

I think that, given his track record, we should give Reiss the benefit of the doubt. He posted his opinion early in the morning before he had a chance to fully wake up.

Fair point..like when Peter King talks about the "ideal gas law theory."

Why not a letter that Kraft is the best owner ever

To be more accurate, the other person will write a letter to you stating "an unfortunate occurrence may have happened when your car was dinged".
