Man if Kraft is letting it go I'm not sure how I can support this team still. But, I'll wait and see what actually happened first.

I get this bad feeling that kraft will compromise with brady getting 1 game. All this context website and posturing would be for nought if brady is suspended for a single game.

I have to agree with ya, Kraft is gonna bow down. Hopefully Brady is man enough to take the NFL to court and get his suspension cleared.

Reiss agrees with you.

Seems to suggest that if Goodell simply apoligizes for spreading false information they can kiss and make up.

Difficult to see this ending well for Patriots fans.

I don't see Goodell willingly apologizing for anything at this point, but it's hard to believe that an "I'm sorry" would be acceptable as the only concession the league would have to make.

Providing false info to a team about the investigation and, at best, sitting by and allowing the same team to be smeared by a false report (and it's a real possibility that false info came from the league) are bigger problems than anything the Patriots might have done. An apology about that isn't going to cut it.

[Edit to add: I was typing this while the Kraft-Goodell BFFs news was breaking. I'll be very disappointed if an apology (if that even happens) is good enough for Kraft.]

Shefter tweeted a pic of the hug between Kraft and Gooddell. Ok, now I get it. Its all about context

"you broke my heart Fredo, I know it was you...

One of the problems with this potential deal is that one of two things needs to happen: a) Patriots admit guilt, or b) NFL reduces penalties for no reason. I don't see either of those things happening without "new evidence".

In the past, leagues have reached agreements saying that the team/player/coach was not being found guilty of anything, and those statements were then discarded by everyone.

I am thinking of the Pete Rose case in MLB, where Pete accepted a baseball ban in exchange for MLB stating that they were making no findings that he bet on baseball. 30 minutes after the agreement was reached, reporters asked Bart Giamatti his thoughts, and he said that to him it was clear that Pete Rose bet on baseball. So what did Pete get out of that agreement? Nothing whatsoever.

Now, Pete was guilty, so the analogy only goes so far, but it shows you that you cannot trust a league to hold onto the message that they agree to stand by.

I could see Goodell doing something just like that, so the Patriot's punishments need to be universally wiped off the board to make such comments from Goodell look silly if he chooses to say something like that.

More and more I get the feeling Kraft is just going to sell out.

I hope there are lots and lots of Boos on opening night.

My loyalty is to Brady then Belichick and then to the Patriots. I have no problem ditching the NFL if Brady gets screwed.

Patriots will accept penalties without accepting guilt. Kraft even did that in his statement before the punishments were handed out. Now he has no choice but to go to courts like Al Davis and dont think he wants to do that. The context website was to win the PR battle. If he gets an apology from goodell for the handling of the situation he will make a statement that "being a fan of the nfl he couldnt bring himself to go against them as much as I disagree with them" etc etc blah blah and accept what it given . Iam more concerend what brady does and if he asked by kraft to take a 1 game suspension.
In the end the shoddy nfl will come out winners i get the feeling.

Two things this place is famous for:

1) terrible nicknaming
2) wildly overreacting to the slightest bit of info

Sheesh.

Kraft cannot accept a penalty for Brady.
Hello, Brady AND THE NFLPA are appealing and fighting the league, which includes Kraft.
Kraft trying to get in the way of that only puts him on Goodells side AGAINST Brady.

I understand it's easy to feel like things will go to hell right now with the "buddies" tweets, but I have a hard time believing Kraft and his lawyers spent all this time and money on these statements, reports, interviews with Peter King, just to hug it out.
