If Brady Appeal Fails, Patriots Won't Miss a Beat With Garappolo

Steve Balestrieri

With a Tom Brady suspension looming, will the Patriots be nervous with Jimmy Garappolo under center' Don't bet on it as he'll be prepared to step up

Well, glad we already have confirmed we have the 2d greatest of all time QBs. ;)

Seriously, though, yes the team CAN SURVIVE, but just look at the damage this does to building continuity (like the OL knowing how their qb moves to avoid pressure) .

And worst of all it means BB absolutely has to use THREE and possibly four roster spots on QBs. With the tight roster that means one of our depth as someone else's FA pickups.

Personally, I prefer the solution I proffered last month. Send TB out vs Pitt as the team captain for the coin toss and tell the refs "he plays or the other 52 stay on the sideline and you lose ad revenue, your call refs"

Oh and I don't see any way this doesn't get injuncted and overturned, but it just may take awhile. So all the article and speculation here was quite pointless

whistling past the grave yard. there is no sugar coating how much a 4 game suspension of brady will suk.

I love me some Tom Brady and I am doubtful JG is going to come close to having Brady's success. Having said that : I would LOVE for Jimmy to beat out Brady and be better than Brady ! It would be great to have a 23 year old be better than the reigning SB mvp. But, the probability is so so so low that he can ever even have - as his BEST year - a year like Brady averages....

Someone please tell Ballesteri the world is round.

Too many deflategate articles to the head.

Hard to take an article seriously that says the Patriots are NOTORIOUSLY SLOW STARTERS when in the last 10 years they have the best opening day record in the NFL at 9-1 and the best first 4 game record in the NFL at 29-11.

The article's title is the problem here.

So if Brady’s suspension holds up, don’t expect much gloom and doom to come out of Foxboro. Many pundits are saying the Patriots should hope for a .500 start, as the team is a normally a notoriously slow starter anyway and with Brady possibly out, could be a best case scenario.

Some are even calling for a possible 1-3 start against a tough slate of Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Jacksonville and Dallas the first four games. While entirely possible, don’t sell Garappolo short. The team drafted him in the 2nd round for a reason. While no one foresaw him possibly having to start this soon, he’ll be ready. Bill Belichick has always done a great job of putting players in a position to succeed. He’ll do the same with Jimmy G. ….if he has to.

Says something significantly different and more reasonable.

If Brady is suspended, he doesn't count on the roster, so you'd likely use the same two spaces you were already using.

At least spell his name correctly if you're going to write a piece about him

The appeal will not fail...so do not worry.

I smell a QB controversy:cool:
