Keep in my mind Mayo and Hightower are returning from injuries so TC depth will be important.

Spikes is here because hightower's return is uncertain. He will be a great backup once Hightower returns.

Belichick really seems to be constructing a role playing rotational defense, it's going to be all about situational football. Spoke really helps the run defense but can also help the pass rush in certain situations.

I like that we have that thumper in the middle now, always liked that intimidation he brought to the field, fierce hitter. His idol was **** Butkus. So I kinda wish it was more than 1 year, but I guess he'll get extended if he stays on his best behavior for the year.

I mean really, the top 3 LBs are Collins, Hightower and Mayo, which is already an amazing group, but when your fourth LB is Spikes, that makes it downright nasty.

Safe to say best first 4 LBs in the league?

Man I loved watching him play. Glad he's back. I'm going to stick by my guns and not watch again, but this signing makes it hard. I love his intensity.

After Buffalo, I guess the Boston winters don't look as bad.

We needed his intensity and hard hitting after Browner left. And obviously he's superb against the run. Good signing.

I'm really suprised he ended up signing here, I know he hasnt been able to be more than a two down back but you look at some of these terrible LB corps and you have to think Spikes would be an upgrade for them. At this point the Pats are really putting all their eggs into the front 7 package, but hey its worked for teams before to have that awesome front 7 and a meh secondary.

Well this makes the team better so I am for it. Spikes as a 4th LB is nothing to sneeze at : )

Edit: Also I was 100% wrong about this not happening. Very surprised indeed. I think this will some games we will see him 10 snaps and others we will see him 40. All depends.

this one is easy........since none of the AFC teams are going to beat the pats through the air, stop the run, and you just may wind up with 6 shutouts in the division
