This Rest Room scenario doesn't make sense for other reason also.

If McNally's intent was to secretly deflate footballs why would he go into a
public rest room where anyone could walk in and see what he is doing. Walk
in and see footballs on the floor and him standing there with a needle in a football.
Crazy!

I'd guess it's a small, single-seater rest room. Am I wrong?

Doesn anyone know if its true that Farve refused to hand over his cell phone during the NFL investigation into whether he had sexual harassed a reporter by sending her indecent photos of his little farve?
Yes I believe that is true. He was only fined $50,000 no suspension or docking of team picks. (Surprise, he was with the Jets that year...)

someone needs to do a youtube trying to take 12 balls out of a bag and deflate them to exactly where tom likes them and then get them back into the bag and time it.

Several people did the deflating test within 90 seconds.

Is there a video of it? I want to see that with my own eyes.

I expect there is, as I saw it done on television. I don't have the video, though, so you'll have to hunt for it.

Ugh, why release this on a Sunday? Just wait until tomorrow. This will barely get a mention in the media, if at all.

Look at the chronology. It's now 17 March, 2 months after the Wells investigation was commissioned, and Ted Wells is getting anxious because he hasn't found a smoking gun...nor any hard evidence of tampering. He's getting desperate because the media is starting to wonder when the outcome will be in hand. So he thinks maybe he can browbeat a confession out of McNally, using threatening and strong-arm tactics, by pulling on the only thread of evidence he still has (the text messages). The Patriots, however, are wise to him. They know full well there's nothing to find...even reminding Wells that he wouldn't have such opportunity for multiple interviews (i.e. depositions) if this had been a litigated case. So Wells get's upset, vowing to "get" the Patriots, and makes a big deal about their "uncooperativeness" in the Wells Report... because that's the only thing he could hang his hat on.

I don't really think that's the case, and this is just something I started thinking about yesterday after reading the context report and a few insightful posts around here.

You have to understand that not only is noncooperation a crime, in itself, it's even worse than the actual infraction.
So, what do you do if you're trying to stitch up the pats......?

Well, I won't make accusations, but if it was me I'd probably continue to make a laundry list of demands until I found something they drew the line at to produce a resisting arrest charge.

He had every text in his possession for weeks, as the pats obligingly turned over the phones.
His million dollar team had all this time to prep for an all day interview, because McNally apparently refused to leave, much to their disappointment.

So, even though they agreed to a single interview beforehand they conveniently just stumble across this deflator text because they only checked in season texts, right?

Well, what was McNally's answer for the 'deflate, etc jacket' text he sent in NOV?

Oh, we were going to ask about that at the second interview we weren't getting, they say.
Uncooperative!!

Pats feel kind of bad about ted getting screwed so they offer an alternative.....but.,..nobody at the wells office will answer their phone......

The only thing pissing wells off is how hard he had to work to get past pats cooperation

He locked the door behind him. I really question the Wells report's estimates on how long it would take to lock the door, remove 12 balls, deflate them in an organized manner such that you do each ball once and only once, get them back in, andunlock the door. In 95 seconds.
I'm not claiming this happened, but do believe that it would be possible to deflate 12 footballs in that span. All you need to do is put the needle in each ball, wait for a specific count (1, 2, etc) for each ball and then move to the next ball. No need to check pressure. I believe the perfect gas law explains the pressure drop and it's not productive to argue that it was not possible do deflate the balls in the bathroom.

someone took 12 balls out of a bag, deflated them to exactly what tom likes because we know he gets pissed if they're not exact, and got all 12 balls back into the bag and out of the restroom. this....i have to see.

I found the excerpt about the refs re-measuring significant. Goldberg states that their video footage shows that it took each referee over 60 seconds PER BALL to check the PSI and adjust it if needed... This is wildly inconsistent with the notion that McNally were somehow able to adjust 12 footballs to a lower PSI on a sloped bathroom floor in 95 seconds. This implies that it is taking McNally 7 seconds to do something that it took experienced referees over 60 seconds to do, in a more confined and less conducive space.

Further, in my estimation you'd have to reduce that 95 seconds to at most 80 seconds when considering that it would take him at least 3 seconds to dump all the balls on the floor (assuming they all magically stayed in one spot and did not roll/bounce away), and 12 seconds to put all 12 balls back in the bag one at a time (1 second per ball). So now you're looking at about 6.5 seconds per ball adjustment.... This is to say, it's being implied that McNally is somehow doing this task roughly 9 times faster than a seasoned referee. Is that at all logical???
More importantly deflate the balls by a small amount per ball with little variance. I am a soccer ref so I know that get only a few tenths of a PSI out is a PITA so to get all 12 balls within a narrow band in 100 seconds or less without a pump to reinflate and the redeflate is impressively improbable

This further substantiates why Brady should not release his phone to the inquisitors.. TMZ would pay a lot of money for this stuff.

·Due to leaks that could only have come from League personnel, Jim
and his family have been subjected to public humiliation, with his
name, photo and home address plastered all over the media, and
media pursuing him. . . . A heavy burden is placed on anyone
asking that he devote yet more time to this investigation.

I don't really think that's the case, and this is just something I started thinking about yesterday after reading the context report and a few insightful posts around here.

I read your response several times, and I still don't get your logic. Seems like you disagreed with my OP, then offered up a response that is fairly well aligned. Ok...cool.

This shows definitively that the ONLY time tampering could have occurred was during the 95 second bathroom visit. And the Wells report never shows proof that this can be accomplished in 95 seconds.

So the Wells report shows neither opportunity nor motive (since never did Brady ask for balls out of spec).

A brain dead monkey could win this case.

Well, that's obviously not the only time the pats tamper, as the wells report states that these suspicions came up in the previous game when the pats were on the road in a dome.

2 balls picked off, I believe, guy on sidelines immediately noticed they were 3/10ths psi light and confirmed by gauging

Don't over think the process. It does nobody any favors. The balls wouldn't need to fit exact PSI specifications. They'd just need to have been deflated some and made easier for Brady to grip.

Crazy!
Because it's a single person room with a lock?

Let us remember the average discrepancy the NFL claims vs the deflation of the Colts balls is only .3PSI. Honestly who would bother to deflate .3PSI

Of course a very easy explanation for .3PSI is the two gauges never mind the rain, time of possession, Colts balls being measured last etc.. This is truly insane. I would love to see all the NFL show try and get ex players to judge on .3 PSI the way they all did with 2 PSI.
