Good article but Curran suggests that Goodell was blindsided and was a victim kept in the dark.
I don't believe that.
I actually do believe it "possible" simply because I've been an investigator thrust into similar situations. It happens. However, I'm also one those folks who are described as a-holes just for doing my job, the job being investigating. I can see Goodell being "blindsided" on the basis that it happens frequently. And sometimes, not always, but sometimes, a CEO (perhaps a commish) reviews and gets it right. I'm keeping up my hopes until the final say...
No matter what, I'd love to investigate this case on both sides of the equation, NFL, Wells and Pats. Honestly, I don't think that it would take more than a couple of weeks to present a report and certainly not anything even close to approaching "millions". That's absurd! This was a $30K to 50K case, IMO. A pretty Mickey Mouse case compared to many of the high profile cases PIs find themselves involved in. Millions? The time and no "expensive, rolling surveillance hours" ? If there were, where are the reports?
Is it me? I'm only a few years out of the profession and now this explosion in fees? What? Huh? But it is at least to see that investigator reports are still heavily biased in favor of the client (they always are).
I could keep going on, but to what end. I'm frustrated just as the rest of you are as there's nothing I can do. Yes, I was retained by an NFL team, but it wasn't the Pats. Now my passion is being assaulted and there's nothing I can do or say about it that means a lick. Tough to fault the Wells Report as I've also slanted cases towards my clients beliefs, but......(you can all fill in the blank)...
