After getting pretty riled up at work arguing with people I finally told them I'm done talking with anyone that hasn't read the report.

Also my dad who is usually very level headed started going off on me about what a cheater Brady is and said that he won't read the report. He won't read it because he says it is incomplete since Brady won't give up his phone. He is also a huge Seahawks fan! I haven't talked to him for a few days now.

I just ask them if they have read the report. They say no. I say then we can't have an intelligent conversation about it because I have. They usually get irate and start quoting what the talking heads says. I tell them read the report and actually have an opinion of your own and not parroting someone elses. Now I tell them to also read the rebuttal to get both sides versions. I am pretty much convinced that the average fan has not read the report. That they get their information from talking heads on TV, blogs on the internet and sports columns in newspapers.

What saddens me that I have friends that are Patriots fans that haven't read the report too. They have no clue that there is even a rebuttal site. They are getting hammered so hard from people at work, friends and family who are not Pats fans that they are even begin to doubt that the Patriots and Brady are innocent.

We've had weenies here posting "Oh, I just hope Tom is innocent!" despite the Day One explanation that balls lose psi as temperature drops and even after Tom's and BB's press conferences.
Some folks lack the courage of their convictions and are so worried.

Did he really refer to the balls as "dead", insinuating that they were basically flat? That type of hyperbole is so unbelievably intellectually dishonest and disingenuous. That's straight from the ABC/CBS/CNN/NBC/PBS school of journalistic integrity.
Fixed it for you.

The thing that kills me is that it's clear most of the local media didn't bother to read the report. Not the whole thing. Reiss did. Curran did. But not a lot of the others. I guess that would be like....work?

I live in socal so all my friends are either raider or charger fans, the one thing they cling to is the deflator text as I debunked any other argument they had with facts they had bo clue about. But haters gonna hate. They generally however do feel that it is rediculous and also have as much hate for Goodell as they do the pats. So it is a win win for them no matter the outcome

You hit the nail on the head there! I live in Philly but was listening to the Sports Hub on my ride home from drill weekend and whatever two guys were on there were talking about the Patriots rebuttal. They both were saying that the science didn't really do anything to sway people because it isn't interesting to read and most people wouldn't make it through it (I personally took that to mean that they didn't read it either) and that the texts were much more intriguing to read and talk about!!
