Bill, is that you?

They were suspended, not fired. This entire debacle is about PERCEPTION. The NFL came down hard on Kraft's Patriots. So they had to be suspended....for now anyway.

are we sure the pats actually suspended them?

Right after the Wells report came out and before the penalties came out the Pats suspended McNally and Jastremski, Why? Kraft says no one did anything wrong! League says they can be reinstated but they must have nothing to do with the footballs! What's going on here between Kraft and the NFL League?
1) People get suspended during investigations all of the time, in all kinds of work.

2) ****-talking the GOAT on company phones isn't typically encouraged.

Because Kraft was prepared at that time to go along with NFL punishment. It was a show of towing the line.

Their texts revealed plenty of reasons to suspend them that aren't related to footballs. Talking about the guy's wife like that probably isn't acceptable on a company phone, and talking about stealing shoes isn't a good look either.

I feel bad for this pair of nitwit-scapegoats

I don't know what they pay these clowns but you're only going to get so much professionalism from two people at a given wage.

Didn't McNally brag about having subverted/stolen Brady's "real" 50,000 passing yard ball?

Stealing shoes is all it would take for those two to be honest.

And anyone who thinks this is a smoking gun, I'm sorry, it's just the opposite. What do you do with two exployees that have got the "dirt" on you and have already joked about going to ESPN? Well, you don't antagonize them by suspending them.

(I completely believe they were joking around about shoes in their ESPN comment, not deflating footballs)

Anyone else notice how the haters keep fishing for smoking guns as the current one gets knocked down and keep parroting them at the same time?

"11 balls 2 PSI under! Wait, no. Tom's press conference! Wait, no. Bathroom trip! Wait, no. Illegal kicking ball! Wait, no. No effect on Colts balls! Wait, no. Deflator text! Wait, no. Ballboy suspensions!!!"

I just read some excerps about these texts and it sounds like mcnally wants jastremski to not only get him sneakers but 'apparel' also. jastremski says he needs to wait for his boss to leave. so i wouldn't doubt if these two get canned after all is said and done.

Yep and I think just like during the flight to AZ when he decided that he should say something, his gut told him that these sanctions were crap and he changed his mind.

I also think the NFL talked him into suspending them and he went along.

It they are not suspended the haters would say the Patriots were paying for their silence. And why would they suspend them if they were concerned they would go to ESPN?

Like everything else in the BS clownshowit doesn't matter what the Patriots do it will be spun that they did something wrong.

The bottom line remains the same for me, there is absolutely no evidence anywhere that Brady ever asked or participated in a scheme to tamper with game balls and lacking that they have no right to sanction him and take millions of dollars away from him.

Do these guys even have anything to do at this time of year? One of them at least only works during the season, so there's no harm in suspending him, and maybe the other one would not normally be working at this time of year either. I also agree with those who've said that the texts give several good reasons that have nothing to do with deflating footballs to suspend them - stealing equipment (if true; never clear it if actually happened) and using a company phone to write vulgar/inappropriate texts (about one of them's wives among other things - what is up with that?).

Yeah, the guys at the center of a $1 million fine and a 3 month investigation during a time period where their contribution is not great got suspended (not fired - as I've read other places). I have no idea why. (does this need a sarcasm tag?)
