Patriots Legal Counsel Rebuttal of Wells Report

You seem to be disregarding the possibility that this is the truth...

truth can hurt. people and media don't care about the truth. they will mock the truth. let's all be honest here. we will never know what really happened. we don't know if brady is lying or he is telling the truth. we weren't there. i honestly don't care about the truth. i support brady and this team unconditionally. i want us to win and destroy goodell and the league. weight loss is a brain fart.

I'm sure that this was revealed to Wells in previous interviews but not included in his report. They couldn't just wing a response - what do you think that they are...the league?

Edit - meant to quote wolverinejoe80

OK, you're being honest.

OK, you just don't get it. And that's where I came in on this in the first place.

@smurfalarm @Charlotte Pats Fan @ANGR89 @BradyFTW! It's a difficult time being a Pats fan, especially outside of NE. You are now officially part of America's most isolated, and hated fanbase:

There's got to be an expression for something like this.....refusal to back down from Patriot pride despite being surrounded by haters...hmm....how bout' 'Brady Strong'? :p

Personally, I wouldn't put much stock in an ESPN.com poll. You have to consider the inherent selection bias in the kind of person is A) on ESPN.com, B) is on there for long enough to see the poll, and C) cares enough to vote.

There's definitely a pronounced general dislike for the northeast out here, and that manifests itself in a bunch of weird ways. It's not all that dissimilar to how people react when I tell them I live in LA while traveling. People have weird regional biases, and stupid people especially have really stupid regional biases. If there's anything at play here, I'm pretty sure that's it. They already disliked us, and they really dislike us now that we're basically the region of choice for bandwagon sports fans. I can't really blame on the latter complaint.

But to say we're under siege and everyone hates us/the Patriots and is calling for blood just isn't consistent with my experience out here in CA. Most people don't care, and among those that do, most of them barely care. There's maybe a comment here and there, but most people have better things to do with their time than harass strangers about trumped up football charges that may or may not have happened.

I didn't figure you'd be accosted where you live (thanks heavens no!) but I can imagine that the coverage of Deflategate is pretty one-sided and slanted out there

i'm not getting it because no matter where i go it's all about the 'weight loss'. everything else is dismissed.
yup, definitely not getting it. 'seriously?' is the word media and haters are using.

True, but it's pretty slanted/one-sided everywhere. I blame that more on the media being the media than outside-of-New-England being outside-of-New-England.

From before Deflategate was even a puff of air in an air pump (Jan 6, 2014) Tom Brady was voted the most hated QB.

I also imagine the Patriots would have polled as the most hated team at this point.

Of course this kind of preconceived "hate" is going to seriously color how people interpret the Wells Report and the Wells Report in Context.

Haters.

You're not getting it because you don't get it. Don't go pinning this on the words of others. Once they decided to address the Wells report, they had to address the texts. It's just the way it is.

We can criticize the Patriots lawyers for being a bit wordy, can't we?

I would have said the two men had a running joke about deflator/inflator as it related to their ewight, as seen in this omitted texts (and other texts): "Deflate and give the jacket to somebody." I would have left it at that.

Just say it has something to do with weight gain, then imply there are other (or many) omitted texts.

Is it possible that the Patriots legal team knows more about this issue than some here? I know it sounds crazy but I am going to assume that the Patriots can afford a decent attorney and that this attorney gave his blessing on this response or even most likely ghost wrote it.

Is that possible?

They could have been even less specific and said that it was a running joke correlating to their job of working with footballs. It had no more relevance to the events on the night of the AFC Championship Game then did the term dorito dink.

again, they could've simply said deflating football is part of their job. how simple is that? issues addressed. no eyebrows raised.

I think most people realize that and that avoiding conflict in todays society is probably the safe play. Too much crazy stuff out there. Also, the people who are looking for conflict aren't worth talking to to begin with. So, it works itself out. Those who chose to be loud about the Pats and rub our success in peoples faces deserve the backlash.

What? That's even less convincing than saying deflate is a euphemism for losing weight.

Wow I'm a little surprised even Michigan is going for the multi-game suspension.

Grasping the whole "truth" thing seems beyond your present abilities.

Intellectual laziness and excessive concern with how others perceive us....that's how it's coming across as to me at least
