So is it a given now that Ted Wells has done the last investigation, for the NFL, that he will ever do?

Good stuff from informed and acknowledged nonfans of the Patriots:
I don't think there is any evidence in just the Wells Report alone that says that more likely than not they cheated about PSI.

This is one of the best articles I've read on this nonsense.

If this goes to court, there is not a chance the suspension will be upheld.

This is the same guy who called Lester Munson an insult to humanity for claiming Barry Bonds got spanked in court going 0 for 4 because the jury was hung on three of the four counts he was up for. I love this guy.

Good stuff. I have moved entirely past the idea that we'll ever recover in the court of public opinion. Even if everything was vacated and all penalties revoked, fans will still believe the Patriots are cheaters, and I can live with that. I just want the NFL to get ripped in court and get Brady redeemed and the draft picks back. Everything else is gravy.

This seems to me a preview of what might happen in the appeals process. But it may portend much more, if Goodell doubles down. I'll bet the next step would be a court case, with the NFL vs. Brady and the Patriots and the outcome possibly affecting not only Goodell's job, but the league's entire penalty procedure. The impact could last for decades and change everything about NFL discipline. That's if Goodell doubles down. I'd guess, however, that he'll offer a compromise--two games, $500,000, one 4th round draft choice. If he does that, I don't think Brady and Kraft will accept it. The way I read them, they won't be satisfied with anything less than complete exoneration. This thing could last for months.

I think sometimes the league focuses on exercising the maximum amount of power Roger Goodell has at the expense of the game, the fans, money, PR, players, etc. It's like the battle over the CBA never ended
(my emphasis)

Yep, pretty much this. Exhibit #1 right now is Goodell appointing himself the arbitrator of this hearing AFTER the NFLPA laid out in its appeal the multiple reasons that he is unfit to do so.

Ding Ding Ding.

This article/email dialogue pretty much sums up everything in the eyes of an educated, neutral and unbiased outsider looking on and formulating opinions based on the evidence presented and not social media headlines and personal feelings.

Liked this bit:

IMO, after reading the Wells Report, all I could say was, "Is that all you got? That's your evidence?" It seemed to me written more like an advocacy project with evidence good for the Patriots minimized, footnoted or dismissed without comment, and much of the evidence that looked bad for the Patriots interpreted in the worst way.

So Wells says in effect, IMO Brady's lying. And Bob Kraft says, IMO he's telling the truth. And it a lot of time and money was spent on an investigation where the conclusions drawn and the punishments given look a lot stronger than the evidence provided.

Everyone is centered on Brady's 4 games. I'm convinced they could survive that.

I want the draft picks back.

.

I agree. That will come later. We have almost a year before that becomes due. Let's get rid of the suspension first, get the picks back and then work on getting Goodell out of the NFL.

Amazing how, when someone with an ounce of intelligence can put any prejudices aside, they come to the only conclusion that it's possible to arrive at:

The Wells Report has more holes than Swiss cheese and the Patriots have been stitched up good and proper.

Thanks for sharing. Two level-headed , unbiased, mature people discussing this clusterf__k of a situation at a very macro level.

It't not like we haven't lived with this for years already. Classic case of SSDD.

WE will never get or credibility back, but at least we have the knowledge that we will drown in the tears of the haters
