This is being discussed on another thread, but it deserves its own.

There is an article on Pats Pulpit about this quote.

Somebody synchronized this quote to the exact time of the Pats/Packers game on Nov 30, 2014.

It shows Jastremski walking around with a jacket in his hands ready to hand to a player. This was immediately after the devastating Rodgers/Nelson TD at the end of the first half.

Some are suggesting it means McNally is referring to the puffy jacket that Jastremski is wearing. Personally, I'm guessing McNally is telling Jastremski to calm down after seeing that play. While that does not refer to weight loss, it does show they loosely use that term for meanings that have nothing to do with air pressure and footballs.

Some might try to suggest he could be telling him to deflate footballs, but that is just plain dumb as the refs are about to take them to their locker room for half time.

Here's the video of the play.

Every Profession, job, sport has Special words. For Instance I am a Veterinarian, my friend calls me the Butcher" . Imagine I would be involved in as person of interest in a murder and that was found on my phone.

I assume that they asked jaz and mac about deflator...I dont remember that their responses were written in report

This is the single best response I have seen. I am not kidding when I say someone should try to get this to the people making the appeal...DO NOT assume the appeal lawyers have turned over this rock. Even brilliant legal minds could miss details like this that involve making such connections.

This is actually really good. The analysis of the minutiae of this "scandal" is pretty hilarious, but this is impressive work.

Is JJ allowed to have a cell phone on the sideline during the game?

Well that one is already being turned around....just heard on radio, their saying it JKT, means deflate and "just kill time". Whoever dug that one out should have just left it buried, lol, their going to twist everything to fit the guilty verdict.

Its a text message. There is no record of JJ responding back immediately so we dont know if he had a phone or not even if it is illegal to possess one.

How exactly? The Packers ball boy would have control of the footballs

Also, "give someone that 'just kill time'" doesnt really make sense

At a minimum, it offers a reasonably plausible alternative explanation for using the word "deflate" in a context other then removing air from a football. In a case where the standard is "preponderance of the evidence", it sortof takes the air out of the MAIN piece of evidence used to satify even this low bar.

In fact, it actually puts the term in much greater context because its tied specifically to an event. One could easily argue (successfully) that these guys had a pretty heavy ball-busting relationship and that this text was a continuation of that. (e.g. "Hey fatty, looking mighty puffy in the coat and pretty stupid carrying that jacket around looking for someone to put it on")

Probably a very good thing he didn't respond. Not sure how JJ would know wtf JM was talking about hours later, but that's not relevant. Good stuff

Oh I agree, but their twisting it to "the biggest game of the year their not going to be texting during the game about weight loss, it's about joking of what they do at home games" I'm in no way saying I agree, I'm just already the way their reporting that bit of information. I just think the Patriots have already lost in the court of public opinion, so I would stop trying to change their minds, because their already set, just let the courts decide. Because even if those texts seem guilty, I would think there's been enough holes in the well's report to throw these penalties out.

This is not a Jerry Seinfeld joke, but there is a proctologist in my area with the last name ASPLAN. If only he had one more S in his name.

AND, that makes no sense. What kind of time does he need to kill. And the text was sent during the game.

This is not me saying this, I disagree with it, was just pointing out how it's being twisted already. They are saying the just kill time means keep the ball out of Rodgers hands and kill time off the clock. I just think no matter what the Patriots say now, it's going to be twisted in the public. Thinking they will have better luck in a court who actually looks at FACTS.

The text reads: Deflate and give somebody that jkt

So they are suggesting this means give somebody that just kill time
