Freeman: Goodell will Hear Brady's Appeal

If Goodell plays hardball on Brady's appeal he's also shoving things again in Kraft's face.

Iam sure Goodell has some plan behind this. If he knows his job is on the line he is not going down quietly. Not happy about this.

Conernced me for a second... Then remembered what HWC just said - "Buffoon gotta buffoon".

Still, I'm sure he THINKS he has some fool proof plan.

Anyone know if these things are televised?

Has Goodell ever struck you as a guy who has a plan?

Can't wait to hear the mediots reiterate how hearing the appeal is Goodell right under the CBA, but casually overlook the fact that Brady has every right to refuse disclosing his phone under the same CBA...I mean Brady is clearly hiding something while Goodell will clearly remain unbiased....serious the amount of hypocrisy is overwhelming!!!

Again the league office leaks news . How pathetic is that.

Why? After all, it was Troy Vincent who handed down the suspension.*

*See: plausible deniability
Poor Troy Vincent. *****-slapped by Brady on the field, then by his boss and again by Brady off the field. He might come out of this feeling quite "used."

How will the lost draft picks be affected, if at all, in Brady's appeal?

Could Goodell offer to reduce Brady's suspension to zero, but stipulate that the lost picks remain?

So this is why ESPN has been going out of their way to put doubt in everyone's mind the appeal wouldn't work out. The narrative is set withen the network by the NFL. The money is controlling the entire system now. Players and coaches gambling have nothing on this.

He's bizarro bane, "It doesn't matter what our plan is, what matters is who we are."

Legit lols. I'm so stealing this.

The ego on Goodell is ridiculous. I think it's time for everyone to force Goodell to resign or be fired.

Brady should bring a caged canary to the hearing. If it falls off its perch, dash to the courthouse.

I'm of two minds on this.

One the one hand, Goodell could use this to cut a deal, lay it on Vincent, and try to salvage what's left. That would make sense.

But I doubt it. Look at the response to the Patriots counterattack by the League lapdogs. And Goodell will stand with Kensil. he's taking it to the mat, I think.

he's made a bigger mistake on one count than I think he realizes, though: most people are fair-minded and many of the people following this are not really NFl fans and don't understand the inner workings of a professional sports league. The reaction from many will be "What? how is that fair?"

NOPE. Because the discipline of Brady is a separate matter from the discipline of the Patriots. They are separate entities.

Now that Goodell is hearing the case himself, his behavior will come under the microscope and he exposes himself to a personal lawsuit if he handles the appellate hearing improperly or does anything that can be criticized or characterized as abuse of discretion by Brady's legal team. Not to mention it is an obvious upfront refusal to appoint an independent and neutral 3rd party to handle the appeal, which means the door is open for an appeal of Goodell's judgment just by this very act.

Goodell is either an idiot, a buffoon, too prideful, or too scared to let this matter be heard by an independent party as requested from the outset. Because the NFLPA framed that in their request from the beginning, for Goodell to hear it himself is the height of arrogance and puts his impartiality immediatly into question.
