Freeman: Goodell will Hear Brady's Appeal

Could be a good escape vehicle for Goodell? Perhaps he'll call it a draw and drop the suspension down to 2 games? Perhaps that was always his plan? The fine & picks will probably stand.

Honestly, I just don't see how he can get past Walt Anderson's recollection of the gauge he used or the probable policy violations the NFL used in the non-sting? On the other hand, the "deflator" stuff keeps the Wells Report alive, especially due to the media's focus and reaction. (That was a mistake!)

I wouldn't bet a dime on any particular outcome.

As I stated in the kraft response thread, this would be a best case scenario result of the publishing of the response. Wells is on record defending his report vehemently. Now Goodell gets his out before being added to civil lawsuit filed in conjunction with the appeal regarding the disciplinary actions. This, to my mind, opens a back door for the Pats to file something restricting the punishment on the franchise, with regard to what is ruled by Brady's appeal of the Wells report.

I'm no lawyer and that probably made no sense, maybe one of our lawyer friends could wade through my blabbering and put it more concisely, or just confirm my ignorance of law regarding public figures...

Can you elaborate on what "drop the cheating charge" means?
Albert speculated that the breakdown of the suspension was 2 games for not cooperating and 2 games for deflation.
Brady then appears before Goodell and argues they have no proof of him being involved in ANY way with the deflation so Goodell drops those 2 games but keeps the not cooperating suspension in place.

If I'm Tom Brady and this league has dragged me through the mud, has impugned my integrity and has done permanent damage to my reputation with ABSOLUTELY NO DIRECT EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING I'm going say "Jeez Rog, thanks so much. I'll take that deal." ???

I don't think so.

And besides, feisty Gisele would never let him back in the house. :D
Do not underestimate the influence of a take no bull%$#t and take no prisoners savvy world renowned businesswoman like Gisele Bundchen, a powerful behind the scenes force in this equation.

Like i posted before, goodell is drawn to making poor decisions like a moth is drawn to a flame, its like he can't help himself. He will reduce it to two and brady will bring it to court and crush goody like a bug. I actually like this, i get to watch goodell get embarrassed, and maybe fired.

I had a similar thought. at first, maybe he has a brilliant plan - then, why would he once, when every other decision has been stupid.

Brady shouldn't trust that NFLPA either. He should have someone there to watch his back.

LION FAMILY VS. MR. WILDEBEEST.

COURT CASE 4099986
To Be Eaten Or Not To Be Eaten.

The Lion Family make a plea to eat Mr. Wildebeest so they do not go hungry.

Mr. Wildebeest alleges this is unfair as he has a right to live.

THE COURT HEARING BEGINS NOW.

"Lion Family. The court will hear your case to allow you to eat Mr. Wildebeest."

"Mr. Wildebeest. The court will hear your defense on whether or not you should be eaten by the Lion Family."

"Ladies and gentlemen. We now present to you the fair and impartial Judge in this case. Mr. Lion of the Lion Family."

He will. I also think he should add the biggest reporter who is also a lawyer to his legal team so they have a legal right to be in the room.

What choice does Goodell have? It was a witch hunt from the start and the league office was driving the train. He can't afford to put this investigation in front of an independent arbitrator.

People are acting surprised that Goodell is going to hear the appeal. The second he gave Troy Vincent the responsibility to make the decision, this was definitely on the table.

That was the very reason for having Vincit give the penalty so Roger could say he wasn't involved so he was impartial

Welp, Ginger Joffrey's eyes just wandered to his chalice and his reptilian talons are now aching to wrap around it's base. Drink the wine, Roger, drink the wine.

Rodger Goodell text message subpoena pls

Goodell is really giving Brady ammunition for a legal battle though. Goodell hired Wells to do the investigation. It was Goodell's underling who made the punishment which Goodell signed off on. This is serious conflict of interest.

Posts coming in fast so sorry if this has already been said. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a strategy play by Goodell. He listens to the appeal and based on "new scientific testimony" and other factors, completely exonerates Brady and the Pats. "Hey Bob, buddy, pal. Look what I did? I thought y'all were innocent all along. It was the other guys, Troy and Ted."

Nothing would surprise me at this point.

In my opinion, no one should be looking at any of this with the hope that either media opinion or public opinion will be changed regardless of the final outcome. Everyone's minds are made up forever. Verdict: guilty, no matter what happens going forward.

Goodell You want a deal here are my terms:

Lower your flags and march straight back to England. Stopping at every home you pass by to beg forgiveness for 100 years of theft, rape and murder. Do that, and your men shall live. Do it not, and everyone of you will die today......... I'm not finished yet! Before we let you leave, your captain must cross this field, present himself, bend over, and kiss his own arse!

Will never happen. Goodell is not going to overturn his own ruling.
