Patriots Legal Counsel Rebuttal of Wells Report

I thought the NFL suspended them.

The Pats suspended them May 6th, the day the report came out. Many of the anti-Pats press is saying "That's suspicious, why did they do that before the league told them to?"

If you were Kraft and you just read texts from them saying "F**k Brady, I'm gonna pump the balls up like rugby balls" (to spite him). Wouldn't you can the guy on the spot, or would you wait for the league to tell you to can him?

now media jumping on fact that mackinnon founded company that received funding from Kraft's companies.
Not arguing against the facts in his piece, but trying to discredit him.
Well, they did claim that he had no affiliation. Sloppy on Patriots part if true.

The Patriots accusing others of leaks in this rebuttal is rich though, considering we've heard much of what's in the rebuttal already.

Is this guy an actual idiot?
Breer and Volin only tweets and write things that are negative towards the patriots. They are not interested in writing anything else. I wish I could delete them from the tweet time line.

Only by those simple minded ones who are suffering major information overload and are unable to process what has happened. This was an opening smackdown.
Far be it from me to give legal advice... but I think all this distracts from what should be the message: what does all the other stuff matter when there is no evidence of tampering? (That is to say: Where's the beef?)

Turner now on WEEI

"Totally ridiculous what they're doing to the Patriots."

What do you guys think about this statement?

At the beginning I thought this Pats report was something they released to create some shock waves and get public support but I'm afraid of something like that, they only wanting to clear the Pats name and this is it.
Joe Banner has forgotten more about corporate law than I know but I disagree with him. While the purposes were many, its intent was to level-set as many people on the actual events and context leading up to, during and after the AFCCG. This is foundation toal any class-action/defamation of character law suit.

Well, they did claim that he had no affiliation. Sloppy on Patriots part if true.

They've actually updated that and said the Kraft Group made a passive investment into the company.

Re: Wells - "This guy's not an independent investigator."

I think this whole thing was hasty and a misstep, and if Kraft thinks he was going to sway the public he was out of his mind, he should have just let the media vultures prey on the inevitable decay of the Wells Report instead of throwing himself out there like this. Too much information at once, works against the Pats and let's the populace focus on sketchy parts like the deflator.

If they had to do this, i.e. fight first for their public image, which is a very dubious choice IMO, then they should have fed the media information bit-by-bit. Would have had a completely different effect: more focus for each critical point, more credibility in the minds of the feeble to see it come from reporters they otherwise trust.

I can't imagine anyone is going to take this seriously. The Patriots needed a Battle of the Midway. Instead this is more reminiscent of Chancellorsville.

I do not profess to be historically savvy, nor am I suggesting that Mike Kensil bears any resemblance to Stonewall Jackson.

"They targeted me, and then they went after me."

"I needed a lawyer in that room, and I realized that real quick."

"I didn't give them the story they wanted. I actually told the truth."

"They didn't want to hear it."

Would love to be a fly on the wall in Goodell's office right now....

How about at the NFL Spring meeting in San Francisco next week??... hopefully the owners come to realize what an idiot the leader they pay handsomely is.

"They went after my character. I knew it was a witch hunt."

"All they did was twist the truth."

"(That's why) I defend everything the Patriots are doing right now."

"(That's why) I defend everything the Patriots are doing right now."

Turner may be telling the truth but he just painted his own Agenda to discredit Wells' because it's personal to him.

"It was very accusatory. I was under attack."

"Second interview, (D.I. note: this is important) they called me on the phone."

this "explanation" for the deflator text is laughable

doing more harm than good.....everyone is mocking that silly rationale

Double meaning. One of the two meanings was about deflating footballs.

The thing is -- everybody deflates footballs, and they should. The refs deflated a Patriots football at halftime at the Colts game, irony of ironies. It's just part of the process.
