Kraft won't sue, Kraft will tell Goodell "you are dead to me", will work to oust him

If Kraft doesn't sue, he can appeal the punishment per recent reports by Schefter (I believe) and others. I think that's his likely course of action.

I'd also like him to support McNally and Jastremski if they decide to file suit against the league for defamation, find them competent council and pick up the tab.

As for Brady, go scorched earth, appeal and sue. Defamation of character is a high bar to clear for a public figure but if he really has nothing to hide then dragging this to court forces Goodell, Kensil, Blandino, Vincent and others to produce their own e-mails and texts. Where did the initial '2 psi under' leak come from? Why did no one correct it when the league had the correct numbers from day 1? Let's get more details around the pre-game e-mail, was Kensil texting with anyone about it? What about game day, when the Colts intercepted the ball, who decided to measure and why?

There's a lot of dots to connect here, and I think the NFL would look like fools if the real timeline and some behind-the-scenes details emerged. Brady's name will NEVER be cleared in the court of public opinion but this would go a long way to at least getting the real story out there, anyone who denies it can pound sand.
Agreed!! We need to hear the entire story here. Hoping we will.

I think this is the most likely way that Kraft handles it. Goodell is such a disaster that it's probably only weeks before he screws something else up. He seems incapable of making good decisions and has already dug a pretty deep hole for himself and despite what the other owners may be saying they really have to be wondering whose team is embarrassed next. I think Kraft will follow the path that his lawyers tell him to, he'll spend his money wisely but I think when Goodell goes down it will be Kraft standing over him laughing.

The problem is that we see it as

Kraft = Michael
Goodell = Fredo

Others, however, might see it as

Goodell = Michael
Kraft = Tessio
I dunno. Kraft is one who is coming off looking like Fredo.

A better analogy for Kraft would be Mace Tyrell from Game of Thrones. More amiable than intelligent.

Agreed - but not sure why this needs its own thread...

Kraft is not happy but the other 31 owners love Goodell right now. Kraft is own his own here.
Nonsense. We already know two of the three owners quizzed agreed with RK.

Fredo is pure incompetence, just like Roger. So nah, Kraft isn't coming off like Fredo. Goodell betrayed Kraft so it's about time they go on a little fishing trip.

Goodell is scared to death of having another screw up. That's why there is NO CHANCE he will allow Tom's appeal to go outside the league. The Commish will appoint one of his minions to hear the case. The fix is in.

It's just like "Absolute Power" with Clint Eastwood.

Gene Hackman: Roger Goodell
Mr. Sullivan: Bob Kraft
Chief of Staff: Wells
Secret Service (Dennis Haysbert and Scott Glenn): Vincent and Kensil
Clint: I think the potential is there for BB to be Clint. I'm 99.9% he knows what happened. He just can't prove it and no one would believe him anyway.
Clint's Daughter: Brady..hurt but not dead.

I'll believe it when I see it. Imo Kraft is far more likely to eat the bucket of sh.t and ask for another helping and when he's done will wipe his lips , put his arm around Goodell and tell us is all how wonderful he is and how 18 game seasons, twenty team playoffs, and franchises in London, Bejing, and Bogata are great for the NFL and what the fans really want. Then he will offer to join the new division with those three new franchises.

I really hope Kraft won't hold back this time and there is no question about it, he absolutely must sue. That's the only way to get our picks back

Suing is not the only way to get the picks back. There is an appeals process.

Tom Brady will sue.
Tom not only will appeal his suspension but will go to court and sue the NFL for defamation. Tom's reputation has been dragged through the mud coast to coast. He has a decent (better than most) shot at victory in the courtroom....which will be a badly needed game changing nightmare for the corrupt cartel known as the NFL.

Robert Kraft will not sue.
Robert will not go to war against the league he had helped to build into this billion dollar monster.
Nor should he.
What Robert will do is tell Roger Goodell, a man for whom Robert has thrown more than one career saving life preserver, that he is dead to him.
The man whose career has been saved, whose integrity has been vouched for numerous times by Robert Kraft just took Robert's head and held it under the water and drowned him in order to save himself.
Meet Roger Goodell.

Heard someone on the radio today (might have been Bedard who was on with 'the sisters') say that folks in the NFL office think Kraft will move on from this just like he did with SpyGate.

What fools if they think this is SpyGate all over again.

Nope!! Not even close.

Kraft will not sue the NFL.

Kraft will NEVER work with Goodell again.....ever!

Won't see the results of that now. The owners will circle the wagons.

Wait two years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep on dreaming about Kraft. Not going to happen. Money talks.

Obviously I don't know what's going on "in-house" among the owners and NFL f/o, but I'm baffled about how Kraft could possibly be so gullible about Goodell. He's been backing him and supporting him all this time when is was (or should have been) clear that he had NY loyalties that were affecting his judgment. The Rice thing exposed Goodell as a liar who had biases for certain teams and there is a history of arbitrators and judges questioning his integrity. Despite all that, THIS is the guy Kraft backs? And he's surprised when it comes back to bite him in the ass?

This is the classic tale of the frog and the scorpion. Kraft should have know what Goodell was (a scorpion) and it is inexcusable that he didn't.

The moral of that fable is that we can't overcome our nature, even if it works against our interest. Goodell is, in essence, a petty bureaucrat and a known NY fan who seems to delight in throwing his weight around. This was clear to me in 2007 and I'm not a successful multi billionaire.

And here I thought we were just making Godfather analogies. :p Very insightful post.

OK, he's a Godfather quote on point, "Women and children can afford to be careless, but not men."

Well Goody certainly isn't a man. And he's legally an adult so I guess that just leaves one option.

That's going much too far. Kraft is indeed the head strategist of his highly successful family.

That's your opinion. I don't believe that Robert Kraft will take this punishment lying down. If the Pats had been slapped on the wrist, say a 250k fine and a 1 game suspension for Brady, he met have let it go. But not now, no way. Kraft feels BETRAYED by Goodell. After all he has done to get Goodell into position and help him keep that position, Roger drops the hammer on the Pats organization and Brady.

The Wells report not only dragged Brady's reputation through the mud by accusing him of being a cheater, but also was used by the NFL as a BASIS of taking draft picks away from the Patriots DESPITE THE FACT the report CONCLUDED CLEAR AS DAY that neither BB or any of the Patriots coaching staff or upper level management had ANY knowledge of any ball tampering shenanigans. So why would the Franchise be stripped of draft picks??

Wrong again.

Good to see Kraft fighting back.
