SOURCES: Robert Kraft is 'strongly considering' suing the NFL

Suing would be the nuclear option - everybody gets hurt.

Since Kraft is 73 on the other hand, maybe he would not be an active owner that many more years so it might be worth it.

I find that Kraft is much like a guy in love with a women and gives her a ring. The women steps out and screws his best friend. And he excepts it because she said it was his fault.
Now she screws his brother, and he still can't decide if maybe this too is his fault!
My take is you dump the ***** take back the ring and tell the tale to who ever you can get to listen. Scream it at the sky, and see what stars fall from it!

Just keep in mind, everything he's got is gonna be handed down to Jonathan....so I'm sure he's taking into account his standing with the league and the owners

^ He's grooming his son, isn't he?

If it's like five years of being a pariah, bite the bullet then his son starts with a clean slate

I agree that Kraft needs to take a stand or Goodell will make up a reason to pull picks from the Pats anytime he needs to gain favor with the other owners. I like the idea of suing Wells, if nothing else other than to get Goodell's phone records and expose him as the incompetent phony that he is.

If Kraft really wants to pull the nuclear button, he could threaten the have the team boycot the 2015 season unless the draft picks are restored. This would send a strong message to the public and do significant damage to the league, forever staining Goodell. Why play in a league that does everything possible to put you at a disadvantage?
Kraft can't threaten to boycott because it would be the most basic breech of his agreement with the NFL to operate an NFL team. It would be like handing the keys to his company to Goodell. No way that you can take this step or even make the threat. Kraft can immediately use political skills to oppose Goodell at every turn. He needs to go from ally to nemesis right now.

From what I've heard, Jonathan is more of a loose cannon - for better and for worse - so I am guessing he'd be fully behind doing whatever they can that's in the Patriots best interest.

Maybe Kraft will strike at his own time and choosing.

At some point, Goodell will have another misfire like the Ray Rice case - perfect time to strike.

yessss.....nothing would please me more than to see that :D

I'm seeing a lot of comments in this thread about Kraft going after the NFL's antitrust exemption. Kraft doesn't need to challenge the NFL's antitrust exemption, which benefits him as much as anyone, to sue the NFL in court. Unions have an antitrust exemption and they get sued all the time. If Kraft sues the NFL it will most likely be for breach of contract. The argument would be that the NFL acted arbitrarily and capriciously in punishing the Patriots without justification and thereby violated an implied duty of good faith and fair dealing under the contract. The question would be whether Kraft has contractually waived his right to sue the league, either because it's prohibited by the NFL's constitution or by some other agreement Kraft has made with the league.

While I am not a lawyer, I have done a lot of contract negotiation in my time. Most contracts that disallowed the parties from suing each other, had exceptions for willful misconduct and gross negligence. I sure Krafts legal team can find the proper loopholes.

If the Wells Report doesn't equal willful misconduct & gross negligence, the punishments meted out certainly do.

We all know this thing was a set up that started after the Ravens game. This is a blatant attempt to cover that side of this story. This is really snowballing for the MFL. Most casual fans think the NFL is some very unbiased, high "integrity", well oiled machine. It's not, it's a very biased, competitive, bunch of ex-players . The media are right there in the mix. I've strongly expressed this belief , to my acquaintances (in New Jersey. Yea, I know:rolleyes:). Even my close (non Patriot) friends are now basically calling TB a cheater. And it's pissing me off. I wear my Patriots garb with total (FU, bring it) attitude. I've asked a few ppl "what is spygate?" I got the usual "They stole play books- They were filming practices" (BTW, I just watched Warren Moon say "They were caught filming practices)... I gave them a little enlightment..... But seriously, a vey large amount of players that are calling this a total charade, ARE RETIRED PLAYERS, WHO ARE NO LONGER EMPLOYED BY THE NFL. That is a major show of the biased in the league. I just watched Shawn O'Hare and Joe Thiesman rip this BS apart on the NFLN. I'm also noticing a gradual back peddle going on in the media, as they are realizing that this thing is unraveling. Watch What You Say!! Bradys rep has been destroyed. The Patriots are called Cheaters everywhere!! SUE,, SUE, SUE!!! The damage to the brands are done. This is a big time defamation, cover up, sting conspiracy. Nail Em'

Kraft isn't gonna do a damn thing, he's about that almighty $, reputation comes second.

The media is scared about Kraft possibly going after the NFL

Wonder why? Oh because they know he'll win and a Federal Judge will crap all over wells' report.

You're on my short list of favorite Patsfans posters, but I have a difficult time diving into believing you're right here. I just don't know if Robert has the sack for this fight. I want to believe this is the incident that finally sets him off, but I can also just see him taking a flop. The rumors coming from inside the Razor that he's super pissed off have me feeling slightly optimistic but I'm cautious not to get to excited over them.

Well I'm of the opinion his lawsuit threat is so he has 23-24 owners calling him and pleading with him not to sue and then him responding with "so then I have your vote of no confidence"

My post above was just that the media sees the glaring holes in the report and just couldn't stand it if the Kraft got wells report shredded by the court and the punishment overturned.

Didn't Kravitz write in his first article on this(the night it broke) that we would be losing draft pics? For such a minor offense that only warrants a small fine usually, why would he even suggest such a thing?

I'm convinced more cooperation with Teddy-trillion-hours would'v produced the same result. Something is so bizarre about this whole thing it's absolutely incomprehensible from start to finish.

So many things reek about this from so many angles, Kraft needs to go ballistic...

Kraft is the one who pushed for Goodell to be commish, he is the one who pushed for higher compensation.
Kraft was a driving force behind the labor agreement. Every step of the way, Kraft has supported Goodell. What does Goodell do but stab Kraft in the back.

Goodell is like that son who steals his parent life savings so he can buy drugs. Goodell is like that guy who kills his wife or parents for the life insurance. When it comes down to it, Goodell is at heart just a typical Jets fan.
