I know! I know! Not another Ron Borges thread, but I thought it was funny how stupid he was today in his column while trying to taunt Patriots fans on their stupidity. From his column:

Goodell (and any future NFL commissioner) already has lost considerable power as a result of a number of stumbling steps and poor decisions made by him and his advisors in the cases of Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson and the botched Bountygate debacle involving the New Orleans Saints. In the latter case, Goodell laid down harsh sanctions on players and coaches and then appointed former commissioner Paul Tagliabue to hear their appeals.

Although Tagliabue upheld Goodell’s findings, he vacated the player suspensions (but not those on management and coaches, which is something the Pats should be mindful of before they go off the deep end on a fool’s errand). In his ruling, Tagliabue charged Goodell with both “selective prosecution’’ and “selective enforcement.’’

Ummm... Ron..... The coaches (other than Gregg Williams who had his appeal heard by a different arbitrator, Joe Vitt), management, and Saints in the Bountygate scandal didn't appeal their punishments. In fact, Sean Payton was ridiculed by many for not appealing his suspension when all the players got their suspensions reduced or vacated.

The only fool's errand I see is trying to find a cogent fact in a Ron Borges article.

So Payton could have overturned that? What was the deal with bountygate I didn't look too deep into that one, they did it but they lacked the evidence to actually punish them like that? I know the Ravens have one according to Suggs but the NFL didn't bother to investigate....man I wish that had happened to Baltimore instead.

Borges is still employed as a writer?????

He's not technically employed anymore. He's got fired years ago, and no one knew. So basically he's he's paying off his debt. People say there are no real life Miltons, well here is one. What a troll. Not an Internet troll, a real life troll. With a bridge and stuff.

He was canned from the Globe and now works at the Herald.

He probably fell off the wagon again.

That's not accurate. They appealed and lost. And Vitt isn't an arbitrator, he is the Saints linebackers coach and assistant head coach:

This...I don't think I have ever read anything by him in years. The only reason I may come across one from time to time is when it is posted here. Honestly, we will all be better off when news papers stop carrying sports section. Sports writing has little to do with journalism these days.

Ron Borges who worships at the alter of Al Davis and the old school Raiders. Should be laughing at this crap and Spygate.

Ok, maybe I am the idiot then. I screwed up.

But it wasn't heard by Tagliabue. The players and coaches do not have the same appeal hearings.

Here is a timeline of the whole Bountygate thing. Tagliabue was appointed to hear the players' second appeal of their revised suspensions after Goodell's original suspensions were upheld:

Oct. 5, 2012 - The appeals panel reaffirms Goodell's authority to issue suspensions.

Oct. 9, 2012 - The NFL releases a statement on the players' latest suspensions. In a letter to each player, Goodell reduces Fujita's suspension to one game and Hargrove's to seven. He keeps Smith and Vilma's penalties the same but allows Vilma to retain his salary from his six games on the PUP list.

Oct. 12, 2012 - All four players file appeals against their new suspensions.

Oct. 19, 2012 - Goodell recuses himself from the appeals hearings and appoints former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue as arbitrator.

The article you provided has the coaches losing their appeal on March 12, 2012. So the coaches lost their appeal long before Talgiabue was even involved.

I got my facts wrong (although more right than Borges), but I am writing on a message board and not writing an article that should be fact checked before published.

I'm not defending Borges but I think it's worth knowing that there is an appeals process for the team in addition to the players. Losing a 1st and 4th round pick unjustly is something that will cripple the team in future if not reversed.

Not gonna give him the click. Just not worth the effort. However I do find it odd in a funny sort of way that he only comes out From under the bridge to pile on when things seem bleak.

However when the Patriots overcome as usual, like a troll he retreats under the bridge.

this the same guy who criticized the seymour pick?

Didn't mean to make it seem like I am accusing you of defending Borges. I was just correcting my mistake in my response to your post.

OT:

Screw CSNNE. They've had this as*hole on practically every night since the report came out.
