AJ Feeley complains about the Pats and footballs in 2004

So he's saying the Patriots were using doctored footballs two years before teams were allowed to mess with their own footballs, back when they were in the custody of gameday officials until kickoff (and teams had literally no opportunity to doctor them)?

Sure, AJ.

This little quote at the end …

If the Patriots were cheating to gain an advantage over the Dolphins in 2004, it’s odd that no one said anything about it until 2015. Maybe no one said anything because they didn’t think it was a big deal. This week the NFL showed that it thinks tampering with the footballs is a very big deal.

… reminded me of something I read this morning in the Globe:

… The Patriots were not informed of the(Colts') complaint (before the AFCCG), and the investigation was launched after the Colts intercepted a Brady pass in the first half of the game and alerted officials the ball was under-inflated.

“The Patriots were all over me from day one about why the NFL did not tell them about the complaint and alleging there was a sting operation,’’ Wells said. “I investigated the issue and I did not find there was a sting. What the facts showed was the opposite.’’

He said his investigation determined that “no one at the league office took the [Colts] complaint seriously.’’ He said the complaint was forwarded by e-mail to the football operations staff, who relayed it to the game officials

So something the league didn't take seriously five months ago (let alone 11 years) is now worth $1 million, 2 draft picks and the reputation of the GOAT?

(I thought about making this a separate thread but Lord know we don't need more of those).

It's actually in the report - in 2004, the Patriots were found to be using practice balls and were warned to knock it off.

Jesus H. Christ on a popsickle stick...Who's next...Drew Henson b*&^*%$ about Brady doctoring up the balls while he was at Michigan.

Sidenote: What movie did "Jesus H. Christ on a popsickle stick" come from????

So the refs who touched the balls were in it too? Are people thinking anymore? I am sorry but analysis and critical thinking is lacking in this country. It is all about how I feel so I am going spew my opinion.

Why don't they dig up Walter Payton and see what he has to say about it too? o_O

Should be easy to verify as all games were televised.

I believe it was in Fletch.

This ones seeing a whole team of Psychiatrists.

And so what? Cheating has been going on since forever. People even admit to doing it. Jerry Rice. Many others.

Let me get this straight. AJ Feeley says he saw the Pats using broken-in balls in 2004. The Wells report says that the Patriots were warned not to use practice balls in 2004. No other incidents since.

So, refs likely noticed too (along with Feeley and others), went to the league, commissioner told them to knock it off, Pats complied but Brady joined forces with Manning on a successful petition to change those exact rules.

Lesson to Roger Goodell ---- *this* is how a real commissioner handles these things. That's before even considering whether there is even a "thing" in this specific instance.
