Blandino Caught Lying Bolsters Sting Claims

If you get some of them to go on the record soon enough, the co-conspirator never quite have their stories perfectly aligned: Blandino, Grigson, Pagano, Irsay, Kensil...

Even still, they can get it as perfectly aligned as they like beforehand, all it takes is one idiot to screw it up. At that point we could only pray there might be at least one idiot in that group...

I assure you there are PLENTY of idiots in that group.
I mean, how dumb is Blandino to simply not have said "I can't comment on an ongoing league matter" on media day. Boom. Case closed. Ego won't allow it though. Has to try to make himself look squeaky clean and Pats as bad as possible.

Ditto Wells. He had zero upside to talking today, only downside. But his ego wouldn't allow himself to keep quiet.

I think Wells talking today was part of a plan to push Brady into accepting the outcome of the report. He suspects that there is something on his cell phone that would implicate his guilt further. The problem with the whole wells report is that the report itself is so full of holes that it would have to be something that said "go to the bathroom and deflate those footballs" or something like that to exonerate the ignorance in the Wells report. I am sure that is not the case. Brady just fired back by hiring a thorn in the NFL's ass lawyer. I suspect we will see a drop in the suspension down to 2 games to appease Brady with the hope he will not go any further. As mentioned by others it would be impossible at this point for Goodell to drop the entire suspension all together because who would in effect be signing his dismissal.

This is warming up and might get really interesting.

Even if it is proven it was a sting, what difference does it really make in the grand scheme? We (pats fans) will point and say the NFL had it out for us and are being treated unfairly. Haters (anyone not a pats fan) will say when you're a proven cheater (spygate), you don't need to warned not to cheat again and giving a warning will not let us (haters) catch you red-handed. Which is pretty much the storyline of NFLN lately and most other national media.

Sorry - I'm trying to be optimistic, but I just can't see what difference it will make if it is proven to be a sting other than Brady's suspension being lessened (perhaps?). In the grand scheme we'll have multiple cheating episodes against us.

Like 20 other teams. Also who cares what other people think.

All this whole thing does is make each future win that much sweeter and another SB win off the charts.

Let the crybabies cry

Credibility if things reach the courtroom.

It has implications as far as unfair labor practices for Brady, it demonstrates unethical behavior and a bias which will be used to get neutral arbitration and it is not what the Wells report said so it is another hole there (#6987)

What difference will it make?

The difference is that there are actual 'journalist' that want the truth and not sensationalism. A local radio announcer is a NewYorker, 'hates' the Patriots, but 'respects them'. Today he and co-announcer actually are trying to figure out why they (Brady and Patriots) are planning to fight this. They actually mentioned that 'it is possible' that they are so convicted that they did not cheat, that maybe there is some truth to their claims (imagine that). There are others that are so malignant in their beliefs that it will not matter, but public sentiment can change with more information.

The more this gets dragged in the mud, more truth will come out and the league will progressively look bad. Kraft will slowly get support from other owners once the tide turns, not necessarily to support the Patriots, but they will realize that this will make the league weaker, open the doors to possible antitrust violations, and they definitely do not want a defamation suite. As a result, the owners will probably make Goddell the scapegoat and clean house in the NFL front office before it gets worse. This could take all year. I suspect that Brady and the NFLPA will not let this one go.

I wish Brady and Kraft both sue the league - get everything out there in a Federal court. Everything from tuck rule to spygate to delategate and show how we've been bent over and raped (sorry if I'm not supposed to use that word) repeatedly while other teams that do the same didn't get anything done to them.

I agree with your first paragraph; there are a few journalists out there that are trying to get to the truth instead of just piling on the pats which seems to be 'in' thing to do for 99% of the media. Unfortunately most casual fans don't hear them and only hear the 99%.

As to your second paragraph while I would love to see that happen, I think its mostly just wishful thinking. I could see Jones and Mara get behind Kraft and perhaps one or two others, but as for the rest... I don't really see it. If Al was still alive I'd bet he'd be leading the charge. Can't believe I'm wishing Al was still around to support Kraft.

why isnt any of PFT or SI picking up on the blandino story ? isnt it a huge deal?

You'd think Curran would have been on it. I'm really surprised as to me this is the smoking gun for the sting. Why would Blandino lie unless he didn't want people to know emails were exchanged and plans made beforehand?

Ahhh the ego, one of the leading downfalls of all men

If it is a sting it strongly implicates the NFL in not caring about it's own game integrity and makes them sound incredibly hypocritical. This whole thing is about integrity and they let a half of a championship game play out? It also implicates them in carelessness for tracking the game balls that day, and calls into question all their evidence. It backs up Kensil's "you're in f***ing trouble now" statement and the general bias in the report. It also contradicts the report directly that this was NOT a sting per Ted Wells, a notion that was so far fetched it wasn't even worth a follow up.

The fact this was a sting operation, to me(sure I'm biased), blows this whole thing wide open.
