This Yahoo Sports article nails it. You know, every year the NFL Competition Committee meets after the Super Bowl, figures out how the Patriots have outwitted the other dimwitted teams in the prior NFL season, and creates new anti-Patriots rules (e.g., can't touch wide receivers, can't substitute players, etc., etc.). Now they've figured out the ultimate solution: just get rid of Tom Brady and the Patriots as an organization so other teams can have a chance at the spotlight. If MLB did to the Yankees what the NFL has been systematically doing to the Patriots the past decade then the 1930s-50s would have looked very different. Hell, maybe the Cubs might have won a World Series! Unless Goodell is out the door within three months and this farce of a non-issue is reversed, no more NFL for JJP.

Apparently the goal must be to have the type of league where teams like the perpetually loser New Jersey J-E-T-S can compete for a championship. Just administratively attack the legitimate championship team until it's a shell of itself. Nice. If that isn't the kind of league you don't want to watch or pay attention to, I don't know what is. I hope TB12 and Kraft take the entire league down. What should have been a quiet, quick telephone call from the league office to Foxborough instead has become an international fiasco. If I were Tommy, I would be licking my chops at the prospect of taking the "Wells Report" to court. It would be a complete meltdown for the NFL. That I WILL pay attention to, I assure you. JJP

I don't understand how undermining the integrity of a cornerstone franchise, all time great, and league itself with this kangaroo court nonsense is a good long-term a strategy. Is it really worth damaging the brand long-term in the height of your popularity to dominate the news cycle for an extra 3 months?

These scum [all once jest employees} probably love the idea of smearing the GOAT, and they realize that brady is hated almost as much as the patriots. So it brings more pub, which equals more $$$$$$ and thats what goodell is all about, hes all about the money and how much he can bring into the league.

Its not. It's clear that these people have no business training whatsoever.

There are ways to create a "Good vs Evil" dynamic for marketing purposes without destroying a man's credibility and a business's ability to operate at the same level as others in it's industry. Take a look at Al Davis's marketing strategy. Say what you want about the guy but in his prime he knew what he was doing.

Incredibly short-sighted, irresponsible and downright sinister.

It's a matter of overlapping interests. Goodell blew yet another minor happening unto a worldwide fiasco. He's covering his butt by hammering the Patriots. Many of the other 31 teams want to see the Patriots knocked down a peg.

But watch out. Kraft may indeed fight for the franchise or he may not, but what happens when the next collective bargaining opens? If the NFLPA takes a much more hard line stance, and if Kraft isn't serving as a conciliator anymore, we may have a strike. This will all blow up in everyone's face. Or worse, what if Kraft aligns with big market people like Dan Snyder, and thereby destroys the salary cap parity they've created in the NFL?

Kraft has to be boiling here. He is perceived as close to Goodell and he has acted in the past to conciliate between all the owner factions. But here's the eye opening thing: he left his wife's deathbed to construct a deal. HER DEATHBED!!!

How can he look these people in the face? What kind of a man is he?

Hey this is the world we live in. Goodell found it necessary to exalt Ray Lewis, and necessary to tear down Tom Brady.

Be careful what you wish for as they say. This may be for great drama and publicity, but this sh!t is real and there is solid chance that Goodell is just digging his grave with this mess.

This is the beginning of the end for Goodell and his version of the NFL. I have now read the Wells report four times. With each reading it becomes more crystal clear that the report is so biased (against the Patriots), so incomplete, so wishy washy, so amateurish, that it invites ultimate league ridicule and embarrassment. The tide will turn, as long as Kraft and TB12 keep the pedal to the metal!

Can you imagine how long it will take an unbiased and intelligent judge applying due process to slam the NFL? What a complete joke. Here's the NFL's best case: Maybe, sort of, perhaps Tommy might have known something about deflating footballs in a game where the refs really didn't measure them properly to begin with, a game in which the Colts had underinflated balls as well. So we'll suspend TB12, fine his team, take away draft picks, all concerning an issue which had nothing to do with the outcome of the ass whipping the Pats gave the Colts in the AFC Championship game. Take that to court, Goodell. I can't wait!!!
