“That is the big question right now, is what happens with that appeal? Again, Tom has until 5 p.m. Eastern Thursday to file that appeal, which he will at some point here,” said Schefter. “And then the league has seven days to come up with a hearing officer. I think most people will suspect it is going to wind up being Harold Henderson. Maybe Robert Kraft steps in and says, ‘Hey we want an independent, neutral arbitrator here. … We don’t want Harold Henderson having worked in the league office, hearing this case.’ I don’t know if Roger Goodell would consider that or not.

“Roger Goodell is the man that makes that decision. That will be the next big story line here, one of the big story lines is, who hears that appeal? I think the favorite is Harold Henderson, but that is still to be determined here over the next 7-10 days.”

This would be a disaster. Harold Henderson is anything but a neutral and independent arbitrator. If it's him, or anyone else who has at one point worked in the league office, it doesn't look good. And apparently Goodell is the person who makes that decision.

Posted this elsewhere , this is a great concern.

This isn't surprising, just all part of the plan.

Yeah I had assumed it would be Goodell himself who did the appeal. Doesn't matter if it's one of his lackeys instead. The real stuff will come after that appeal. The appeal is a formality.

I just don't understand how Goodell was given all this power. This is obvious bias and unfair to players looking for true fair trials.

The players gave him that power via the CBA language they agreed to.

Brady sue this league. They don't follow the rules. Why should you?
Sue these bastards.

And good or bad Kraft helped give him the power. Problem is, it wasn't just him. The other owners had to do it too.

People always love true believing crusaders when they are on the same side. It's only when they turn that people figure it out.

The NFLPA lacked both leverage and competence in the last CBA negotiation (which, ironically, Kraft was instrumental in ramming through). Lots of us have been complaining about this for years now; wasn't hard to see something like this happening eventually. I just hoped it would happen to someone else.

This!

Put another way;
Mob believes "give me the decision and/or action I want. I all but don't care about the justness of getting to that decision/action!"

2 years later on a different subject altogether, mob believes "how can this action/decision be made so unjustly!".

Arguably this is one of the worst underpinnings of the human condition.

Is the American Arbitration Association out of play in this matter?? Usually arbitration is done by someone outside of any of the involved parties.. that would be a conflict of interest(appearance of impropriety)..

Usually the way the AAA works is that they give you the names of arbitrators available to both sides and they select down until you find one they both agree on...there is also a procedure called, "Expedited Arbitration"....

Harold Henderson... is this you???

actually, I think Goodell is going to hear the appeal.....which is why Vincent handed down the punishment.......the defamation lawsuit is going to be killer!
