Kraft's response

Apologies if this is a novice question, but does Kraft really know people who could cause the NFL to lose the antitrust exemption (assuming this is that is the same one from the 1960's)?

ELI5 please :)

He's good friends with John Kerry who could start the ball rolling and it's a safe assumption that Kraft is on good terms or friends with senators too who can take away the exemption.

He's pushing for approval wanted to look human and then rail Americas most hated team. He succeeded I don't know how to get him thrown out.

Go to his hotel or wherever. Tie him up and airdrop him into Iraq with an I hate ISIS sign hung around his neck. He wouldn't be around much longer after that.

There are a lot of pressure points among the owners. If Kraft sides with big market owners in next labor merrygoround, it forever changes the complexion of the NFL.

ISIS are even bigger ****ies than Kraft.

velvet hammer type words

I believe the man since he's got a valid point

If their language offends you i can understand that. But this is not about the language being used in the Texts. Its about if two under 30 yr old employees were deflating the PSI in footballs below in game play regulation levels.
Offensive language is sadly the majority of language today in our country. Yet it is unfair to judge guilt or innocence in this matter simply because we do not approve of the language that is used.
Language is a function of culture in the USA in a broad sense which is then greatly influenced by the industry or in this case the sport in which the employee is employed. It is common knowledge that crude language is quite prolific in the NFL. That they would use it in texting is not at all surprising because it is used all around them every day. It is their normal.
Where did I indicate I was offended by their language? Only their stupidity offended me.

This had better be a precursor to going Nuclear.

What he should hang it over the owners heads: vote to fire Goodell or lose the antitrust exemption.

While I love this thought as an angered fan, would this not be considered blackmail? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think so. It's an either or proposition.

Grazie! That makes a lot of sense

I prefer the term "bargaining chip" :p

'Either or' proposition works too.

Yikes man that's a little intense how about we just get him replaced.

Well he's obviously been proven he is not a good person. Its obviously never going to happen.

maybe the next commish can rethink the punishment when he takes office in.... oh... mid June

This stuff shouldn't be hard.

Can Goodell
Get out of the criminal punishment game
Work with teams to keep issues in house and low key, instead of playing 'gotcha' games

I could fix this **** before lunch of day one.

Leave it to Robert Kraft to allow Roger Goodell to run roughshod over the New England Patriots once again.

Robert Kraft is the Neville Chamberlain of the 21st Century.

Despicable!

Putting an adult with real-world experience in the commissioner's seat would be a great first step.

And honestly, I kind of think these "independent investigators" need to either be appointed by a neutral arbitrator or have their format changed to that where the accused can have a say in their own defense.

Its time to free the ham sandwiches.

I love you guys (channeling my inner Edelman) but I think some of you need to learn to parse English better :

it was our intention to accept any discipline levied by the league. Today’s punishment, however

Clearly means it's no longer their intention.

I'm sorry, I was just following Dictator Goodell's lead. A man of integrity and who understands the English language well!
