Take away your star player
Take away #1 draft pick (and 4th)
Take away your organization's dignity
Fine $1m (that hurts no matter who you are-especially the money hungry owner)
Drudge up the painful past.

I think they wanted to nail BB big time but didn't have the evidence and Jaz and McNally did not report to BB so was difficult to demonstrate chain of command responsibility.

I'm trying to rationalize why they brought up Spygate and using something that happened 8 years ago to help justify the harsh sanctions. By adding that they made BB feel that his so-called past transgressions impacted the decision on Tom's discipline. Painful. "It was your fault, Bill...it's on you."

Making life so miserable for BB so he retires is the only thing I can come up with.

Thoughts?

Regardless of whether it is the NFL's desire or not, I would not be opposed to seeing BB resign/retire. There are principles worth fighting for and if BB doesn't want to be part of the corrupt NFL anymore than I support him.

When he does leave I hope he writes a tell all about the NFL. I bet BB knows where a lot of skeletons are buried.

Belichick is too smart for them so they want him gone. I believe it.

But I hope Belichick comes out firing. This is our Pearl Harbor. The league have made a surprise attack and now it's our turn to fight back. I hope Brady and Lee are not alone in this fight. I don't expect Kraft to do anything but I do hope and expect Belichick to come out in full support of Brady.

I was just thinking maybe it's Rogers's plan to get as many Pats' fans as he can to bail. That way he can move the franchise to London and realize his wet dream. Just a thought, and if that's the case he's off to a fast start.

It'd be nice to see a coordinated scorched earth response: everything from Belichick reporting every single infraction, no matter how small against every team to local senators applying pressure on Goodell.

I wish Bill would have a no holes barred, tell it like it is press conference. No lies or exaggerations just the cold, hard truth.

BB to quit, TFB to fade into the sunset, Peyton to win another Sb, Luck to win many and soon. The jets to win the division. The Pats to be irrelevant.

If you want a lion to leave you alone, you don't poke it with a stick. The league essentially just gave BB a fission reactor to install in the team that will keep them motivated for at least this year, possibly the new couple of years as well.

I would buy into this theory............. and half of me want BB to oblige them..... Brady too.

That will make it much easier for me to turn my back on the NFL. It's clearly not the leaque it once was. I believe this drama was ginned up to keep everybody "talking football" even when games are even being played. The NFL has jumped the shark.

I mean, the man has short-circuited the league's model to enable parity. He has a QB that is not slowing down. People at Park Ave have had it.

I think it's more incentive for Belichick to stick around. Win another SB would be the perfect middle finger gesture to the NFL.

I would love for Belichick to go nuclear and just dump all the info he has on the cheating that every other team in the league has been doing in the time he's been in the league. Just utterly destroy this precious "integrity of the game" that Goodell pretends to care about when it suits him.

Even if it's not a conspiracy hatched by a NFL Illuminati, I think it's obvious that what we have here is a combination of 1) the Pats being too successful for too long, and the NFL catering to moron fans who hate the Pats. And 2) BB has made many enemies over the year by flaunting the league office.

Sorry, but I don't think the NFL will allow it.

If something like Deflategate happens in the future while the Pats are on the way to the Superbowl, the league/Goodell will make a ruling preventing the Pats from playing the game, forfeiting the game, suspending coaches/players, having the worst officiated game in history, whatever is necessary.

i dont know

i do think BB knows more about NFL history than anyone i can think of

i do think he cares about his legacy and place in history more than anyone i can think of

i think stuff like this and people like Shula taking shots at him is just poking the bear

i think he is gonna be around a while, health permitting........more coaching records will fall

I think he will too. No way he leaves under these circumstances. Not ASAP anyway.

I think this accelerated BB's timeline. I really do. He'll fight it in 2015. He'll keep moving forward like he knows how to do. With our without TB12 they'll go 11-5, 12-4, 13-3, etc, but I wonder when in a moment where he's relaxed and having a beer with his sons, Linda ,etc and he just has that inflection point, takes stock of the last 40 years and the grind that's in front of him and decides that it's just not worth waging the war or raging against the machine anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brady and BB are discussing exit scenarios right now. I expect both would go or neither, but not one or the other.

Its so surreal...

I never thought that BB's NFL career was tied to TB12s directly but I think by the circumstances set forth by the league and the clear message it is sending which is, "we will work hard and with great vigor to stay on your ass and make sure you are not competitive.", he has to wonder if this is worth it.

I think when things settle a little they will chat.

Money, all the NFL cares about is money. The NFL loves the publicity good bad or otherwise. The NFL is closer to the WWE than a legitimate sports operation. They are on national news that can't be bad for business. I for one am happy to be rooting for the evil empire of the sports. The torches, fingerpointing and witch hunt proves only one thing to me. The masses can't and haven't figured out why this organization is so good. They need their boogie men and fake scandals to tear it down. I think it's reassuring, they can't figure it out. So, this will be a speed bump on the way to another decade of greatness. It's too bad that I have to waste my time watching their product over the course of those years.
