I feel bad sometimes when I read about the other football. Corrupt organizations (FIFA? I guess we almost are joining them there), labor crises in 3rd world countries that soccer is directly responsible for that are truly morally reprehensible, racism, violence between fans, and others im forgetting off the cuff here. Football, baseball...they don't seem to carry the same burden on the conscience.
I hear what you're saying about soccer. But football doesn't carry a burden on the conscience to you? The league has and continues to pay millions of dollars to men who have committed domestic violence, rape, and at least a couple of murders. The game itself has resulted in brain damage and subsequent depression and early onset dementia for former players.
That's a lot to bear. My love for the strategy of the game and for Pats since 1996 has always kept me interested, but it's become increasingly difficult to ignore.
