The unfortunate thing is none of us WANTS this to be true. We want the NFL and Goodell to let the product on the field do the talking, be reasonably competent when it comes to business and operational decisions and let the players and the game run the show.

Instead Goodell let's every...single...issue become a runaway train and has to resort to CYA mode. That leads to absurd suspensions (or non-suspensions), angry fans and frothing-at-the-mouth media.

It's sad that I've even given a thought to giving up the NFL. The game is incredible, and we Pats fans are the luckiest SOB's alive with Belichick and Brady. But my god is this league run poorly.

May just prove to be prophetic.

"Just watch. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way. I'm just telling you, when you've got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always, always turns on you. That's rule No. 1 of business."

I remember someone posting that years ago, I agreed with what he said.

I remember posting that quote a while ago. I believe I used that quote after the ridiculous fines that were given to Hightower and Collins for some B.S. on roughing the passer.

Recent events have only made this quote stronger. Mark Cuban is going to be called a psychic when the NFL does implode. Look at this entire media blow-out of a ridiculous lie with a report that a cheap lawyer can rip apart. The NFLtanic has struck the iceberg and is going down by the head.

I've been watching a lot of Shark Tank recently. Cuban is great. Filly agree with this statement too.

Cuban's statement may be accurate, but if he had a shot at owning an NFL franchise, he'd be on it like stink on a monkey.

I can't think of a league more deserving of collapse than the NFL. And, given how little regard I have for the NBA, that's saying something.

If I didn't love football so much--and Brady/Belichick specifically--I would be actively rooting for it.

I can't tell you how many times I've considered not watching anymore. It would be very hard, but the ultimate way to hurt them. This politically correct BS is ruining it like every other money making monopoly in this country. Fans of other teams are enjoying seeing TB get railroaded, but beware. You may be next.

I love Cuban, especially on Shark Tank, and I remember this quote. Brilliant businessman, and he's right.

Mark Cuban - Mt. Lebanon High School (Pittsburgh) alumus.
I agree with him on many things...but I can't see any of us turning away from the NFL. I am just too into it, even pre-BB/Brady.

Look at what just happened with the punishment. You might think of changing your mind.

Ugh. I know...I am beyond an apoplectic mess.
But will I watch Garoppolo just to see if the Patriots can give the NFL and all non-Patriot fans a big middle finger? Absolutely.
I'd love to see the Patriots go 2-2 or 3-1 to start the season and then have Brady and the team strive for perfection the rest of the way. Maybe I am just wishful.
I still CANNOT comprehend the 1st Round Draft Pick. RIDICULOUS.

Bumping this thread, I think I'd a great reminder about golden geese. The NBA stinks in my opinion, but otherwise Goodell has continued to prove Cuban correct. It's sad because I really like football as a sport, but if this is all allowed to stand I'm going to wind up finding something else to do with my Sundays. Still holding out hope though....
