After the Arrington release it looks like Belichick is pretty much done with the Patriots financial housekeeping. Wilfork is gone, Mayo and Amendola restructured, and now Arrington is being released. Other than Marcus Cannon I can't come up with a bad contact on the team and I doubt they will do anything with his deal given how recent it was done. It looks to me like they are financially prepared not only for this season but also to start getting long term deals done with Hightower, Jones, and Solder, as well as making moves between now and the start of the season. So I'm wondering what people think will be done in coming months in terms of using the cap space they have available to them?

Thoughts and ideas?

I wonder if Bill is cleaning cap space for a veteran QB

Given the reorganization of our secondary, I hope they bring Arrington back at a reduced rate.

Would be a smart move. Everyone wants to nail Brady. Brady made some stupid decisions.

Nothing besides a vet CB makes sense to me.

Who if he is on the roster week 1 as a vested veteran would have his contract guaranteed for the year, if I remember things correctly....

Keep an eye on Solder. $7.5m is a big nut

Or I'd like to think we are getting the money together to resign Hightower, Jones, Collins.
A trade for a Jason Mccourty would be Insane but I don't see Tennessee weakening a roster when they are on the upswing.
I think we are rolling with the guys we have, if we are adding a player Spikes and Fletcher makes sense.
Now as far as secondary I wouldn't hate kicking the tires on Swearinger.
Or a trade for a Sean Smith, or say a Janoris Jenkins. But more than likely we stand PAT pun intended.

As much as I think Arrington is a mistake, he only played 40% of the Defensive Snaps last year according to Reiss.

I hope he comes back at a better rate, but not negotiating to a more reasonable figure might be a harbinger of the future...

Only 40%. Might be at those very times TY needs to be shut down !

He was making lotsa $. Understand move but was much more pro Arrington than most on here.
