CB Kyle Arrington Released

If I'm the Seahawks I get Arrington on the phone.

Not sure why people think he will be back at a lower number. This freed up less than a million which is not that much. If it was about the money they would just redo the deal which the fact that he was cut says he might not have been willing to redo his deal.

Haha, wtf? Not that I dislike the move in a vacuum, because he wasn't worth the contract... but someone has to play corner, right?
Perhaps BB has decided to do away with the position. I wonder what the league sanctions would be for that.

Nice chunk of change if it is indeed 3 mil savings on cap.

@DougKyedNESN: Arrington was one of the Patriots' most underrated players in his six seasons in NE. Manned the slot extremely well. Market could be high.

Really doubt he's back.

While I'm a little surprised by the move I still laugh when people respond with "terrible move" etc..... Because if there is one thing we all should know for certain it's that Belichick knows exactly what he is doing, especially when it comes to the releases. All this tells me is that he likes some of the young corners he has and that he's not done making moves at the position. Arrington was overpaid (Belichick's fault) and no one is going to give him anywhere near what he was going to make. They will have a shot at getting him back for less and he can be replaced if they can't. They know what they have, they know who is available and who could become available, and they will have a solid secondary when they finally take the field in September. And I'm not saying that because I'm a Homer I'm saying it because Belichick knows what he is doing and has demonstrated that many times over, so people can loosen the grip on their nutsacks and take a deep breath, Edelman won't be playing corner.

Caserio wasn't kidding when he said there was going to be a lot of changes to this roster this offseason

Truly the darkest day in New England Patriots' history. Brady's possible suspension is nothing compared to this.

Okay, that may be a little too much, but let me be a drama queen with the player I chose for my nick, lol.

This is probably a procedural or cap related move, maybe to create roster space for Fred Davis and also redo his salary number. Two birds?

But remember he did get benched in the SB, so nothing will really completely surprise me.

Going with the 7 v. 11 approach...ballsy.

Seriously, this one is shocking. On its own not a terrible move, but combined with the Dennard move, and given what they have, this is a serious shock. In Bill we Trust?

Butler better be an absolute stud.

Oh, and maybe this lends more credence to the McCourty-to-CB talk? I'm having a hard time piecing together a secondary without someone else stepping in to that CB1 (or CB2) role.

On opening night, fans in the stadium will be so focused on Goodell sitting in the owner's box they will not notice Big Ben's 49 completions for 569 yds

Short of trading for richard sherman, I really don't get this move. gaining less then a million in cap space, but losing the last starting CB from your superbowl team. doesn't add up for me, but IBBIT

If designated as a 6/2 release Arrington's 3M salary will remain on Patriots cap until 6/2. 2015 Cap savings would then be $2.415m

TBH though I am hopeful about Malcolm let's not forget the kid was inactive for several games last season. He showed flashes, particularly in the preseason. But his coming out party was against the Seahawks receiving core.

All of a sudden he is arguably our best corner back. I would've much preferred him going into next season as a #3 or #4 instead of throwing him headfirst into the fire.

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't struggle against multiple top flight receivers.

CB situation is pretty scary given the fact the pass rush isn't even proven yet

He has been trending backwards to Darius Butler territory. Against good competition, he and Logan Ryan get consistently torched.
