Some of you are forgetting that @MikeReiss said a reunion is possible with Arrington. His salary was just too high for his role.

Apparently Malcolm Butler is so fast he's gonna play slot and start at both corner spots.

*faints* Never would've predicted that we'd lose Revis/Browner then proceed to cut Dennard/Arrington with this as the backup plan.

I'd assume this is a financial move. Expecting him to be back at a lower number.

I don't get what the Pats are doing at CB. They must have a trade in the works or something. Otherwise I just don't get it.

Then why not just redo his deal?

EDIT: I am wrong they can cut down his cap number if they cut and resign him.

And if it works, then there's a near certainty the NFL Comp. Committee will convene an emergency mid-season rule-making session to make this defense illegal.

Does he have tog o through waivers? if Dennard was claimed id imagine arrington could get claimed

A financial move for what though? Assuming we signed Davis, Spikes and Fletcher they cant make much more than vet min. What was the pressing need for this?

Didn't Swanson have a great showing at training camp last year, even before Butler started having a great camp.

This is not what it seems, in my opinion. Belichick had to cut the roster by one to take on a new player and figured Arrington was the safest cut, since other teams wouldn't be interested in him and he could be reinstated at leisure.

Veterans don't go through waivers until after the trade deadline. Arrington can immediately sign with anyone.

Wouldn't mind having him back on a cheaper contract as he has been pretty good against speedy slots.

I really get this feeling that they will trade for a cb. Surprised they cut Arrington, he is a good slot corner.
