Thanks. Yes, it's odd that they care or pay attention to what we think, save for Miguel, who is constantly correcting inaccurate cap or financial reports in the media. So he's the one they should be listening to as he's always on top of things and if you follow him on Twitter you'll see he's finally getting some well-deserved recognition.

Steve and I post our own thoughts and opinions and try and stay relatively balanced, although this whole topic has me more irritated than at anytime in the 15+ years I've been at this so I've been a little more vocal lately. Otherwise when it comes to news, I'm limited to what I hear from a few guys I stay in touch with within the media and generally aggregate and attribute reports here. From there I try and expand and give my take on a subject, but certainly don't consider myself an "expert" by any means and try and make sure everything here is as accurate as possible at all times. I don't publish "click bait" stories, although I've been told it's a detriment and holding us back, but I'm just not a fan of creating noise for clicks. "It is what it is."

Overall, I'm with most of you in here who are frustrated by listening to the national outlets on this topic. Although I'm sure it's only going to get worse. :(

Good. Maybe you guys plus Curran, Reiss and Howe could form the new Patriots pool at Gillette. May C. Price as well. As a journalist, where does the line get drawn? Opinion vs libel? It seems to me, many media members have been embarrassing and what governs them? Editors? Producers? It's one to report, and one to editorialize. I cannot see how it's ethical to do the second and pass it off as the first. In that vein, it would appear many (Mort, Florio et al) deserve suspensions or firings.

Now I don't expect you to comment on any of this. It just something that has been bothering me. It is also something that no one seems to be talking about.

That is often the case before the defendant has spoken or provided any explanations for the information of the report, the phone record or the emails. The public generally presumes guilt. Brady's future statements and actions may change their minds, or not.

I agree with you, problem here is, just as in spy gate, their minds are already made up. They want to and absolutely do believe patriots cheat.

I am afraid nothing will change that, not even existing factual information or additional info from Brady, his phone or even Goodell. If he is "freed" now, the masses, whipped up by ESPN and hater mediots, will clamor the fix is in.

Yeah - that seems to be the thing now for some reason. I don't know what the sudden issue is with us, like Miguel, Steve, or I post anything for the sake of trying to spread bad information. I don't get that at all.

Ian

The issue is that they are starting to fear you. The first sign of fear in entrenched interests is to discredit.

Anyone remember back in the 2004 elections and the National Guard "memos"?

They were all debunked in the world wide web. It brought down Dan Rather.

patsfans.com is doing yomen work here. You should be very proud of your forum that this happens. Always remember, idiots like Felger and Borges are paid media.

You are professional new media.

There are several different issues at play here. #1 Public perception in the 44.5 states outside of NE (half of CT is NY): I don't care if ************, Allah, Buddha and every other deity in the universe comes out this evening and proclaims that Brady and the Pats are innocent and victims of a smear. That's not changing 1% of the national fan base and their opinion that Brady and NE are cheaters. Nothing will ever change that. #2 Empirical, irrefutable evidence won't change many minds in the media. Most of them hate BB and Brady and they aren't much more open-minded than the moronic fans. #3 The NFL office and the other 31 teams: I literally laughed out loud when I read and heard about suggestions that Brady's fellow QBs and Kraft's fellow owners would come to their defense. The one irrefutable fact in this whole sordid affair is this: Roger Goodell, every opposing player, every opposing team, every opposing owner, every opposing coach and every opposing fan is sick to death of losing to the NE Patriots. They know they can't beat them, and the only other alternative is to slander, libel and screw them over. And they'll do it.

I bet it would if they smited the Rats in the process. I love a good smiting.

that would mean they would have to suspend gostkowski, too since he didn't give up his info either

somewhere de smith is laughing his ass off.........in all of this, I see the making of a huge power play by the union.......
It would be hilarious if they tried to fine Ghost. No freakin way, right? Maybe this is the tack the Patriots and Brady should take: supposedly the punishment for Brady is going to be mostly for "non-cooperation." If so, then not taking action against Ghost is another an epic, unbelievably unfair and hypocritical misjudgement by the NFL.

I'm proud to be associated with everyone in here and we've got a great group and a lot of great football minds on this board. Every once in a while I'll see something one of you has said end up being mentioned elsewhere, and the folks at WEEI seem to also mention the board in a pretty positive light, which is definitely a good thing and all of you deserve the credit for that for what everyone brings day-in, and day out in here. Good stuff

It is rewarding to see a national news media person suddenly realize, with respect to the science of deflategate, that EMPEROR GOODELL HAS NO CLOTHES!

That doesn't mean that he throws out all of the Wells report, but it does flush the half of it away that attempted to stand on bad / biased analysis of scientific data.

So.... it's a start.

Not to mention that the rest kind of falls apart once it's established that there's no evidence the balls were deflated to begin with. McNally spending 90 seconds in the bathroom... so what? A couple low level employees whose job includes preparing balls confirming that that sometimes means deflating them... so what?

It's up on CSNNE now. Editor Toscany wrote it. Not Felgie. Or Tanguay. Or even Curran. An editor. Suck on that one Felger and Mazz et al. Listening to this blathering fools that the gauges didn't matter. That it's nothing and it's misinformation that you would find on Patsfans.com. Literally heard this one time this week.

Sounds to me like Viper is saying that it was Felger (again) who said this.

Felger is the only one Ive ever heard disparage patsfans.com

And of course he would, he is a professional troll. Facts and truth are anathema to his type, not to mention the fact that the man is hypocritically thin-skinned. He might disparage us in kind for the dislike he receives here.

The one good thing about this whole mess is after there have been some who have tried to make a name for themselves tearing the team apart, there are now others taking the other side and trying to make a name for themselves by debunking the ridiculous theories against them. They're just late to the party but it seems they've been lying in wait to deliver more of a defense. I obviously side with those, and hopefully someone eventually hits it hard enough to make the league think long and hard before they hit Brady with a penalty, although his camp is going to rain fire on them. People have no idea what's coming, and this is going to be one of the heavily contested penalties we've ever seen. Tough to defeat the shield, but they've never gone after anyone like Brady before and Yee has made enough good points in the early going to make you like his chances.

The odd thing is he's a good guy in real life and was helpful back in the day when I was in the locker room each week covering the team back in 98-2000. I always got along well with him and thought he was a good guy and a hard worker, and it was good to see him finally make a name for himself.

It wasn't up until recently when that shtick of making fun of the site started and I said something to Marc Bertrand via Twitter about the fact I didn't appreciate it. He claimed it was only in good fun, but I disagreed considering the context and he later unfollowed me, which is too bad because I was a fan of Bertrand as well. But Felger has gone off the rails a bit and the day he went after Reiss also didn't sit well with me. He's become primarily a major pot stirrer now, which I know gets people talking but I'm not a fan of that approach. Although this is the first time I've really talked about it, but yeah...it kind of bugs me that he still does that with us.

I think Goodell is going to suspend Brady for 3 games and Brady is going to respond first with the union and an appeal but followed by a lawsuit against the NFL, and he is going to win in the end.

Okay, let's all acknowledge that Florio is not anti-Patriots, which I have argued for years.

He's actually probably closer to being anti-league than anti-Patriots, but the reality is that the Patriots and the league are very often one and the same.

I
think Felger, Tanguay, and the other contrarians are looking for some sort of national gig. By presenting the anti-Patriot view they are hoping to land at ESPN and will fit in nicely. If it weren't for patsfans.com, I wouldn't read any sports news.

Is it me or has it been looking better and better for Brady ever since the NFL offices closed on Friday? Coincidence? #NoInflammatoryLeaksOnTheWeekends

Ian, I agree about Felger, and you're certainly more informed and qualified to comment upon him than I am. There was a time, around those days when Brady assumed the lead position, that Felger was, at least in my mind, everything he isn't today. I found him honest, sincere, genuine and not afraid to challenge the status quo. Then, it seems clear that when he was struggling to get a permanent radio gig it dawned on him that the quickest, surest way to get what he wanted was to put on the contrarian cloak and intentionally piss people off. In essence, he sold his soul to the devil for success. Ironically, at least to me, is that the very traits that made him so appealing to me in those days are so glaringly absent these days. He sold out and became precisely the kind of person he courageously railed against in the beginning. He's now the sports radio equivalent of a carnival barker.

I am just so sick and tired about hearing about this topic ect. Why i haven't been coming on here lately...just thread after thread on it...once it dies down i will come back but until then..it's just a broken record around here. I get it's the only story going on right now...but i am just tired of this sham by the NFL.

The weird thing is, off the air, he's genuine and sincere and a good guy and would do anything for you. It's bizarre, but "it is what it is".
