LMAO. I love this guy! How do you feel the about the 51% who voted for George W Bush's second term? That turned out well.
the day the dems took over power with Nancy Pelosi is the day this country started going in the toilet... I am a centrist... NOW there is no doubt the public is going to put a woman who has, nothing but scandal and f ups on her resume into the white house...

So... anyway, Lets go Pats

I admit that lots of self interested people did the ice bucket challenge to gather attention to themselves - but at its core it was an extremely successful awareness and fund raising campaign for ALS.

It was a great success. But that's the point. In today's world, one of the most successful awareness campaigns in a long time involved people dumping ice on their heads...on the internet....

We don't learn from history.
Salem Witch trial mob hysteria convicting the innocent
21st century Americans are no smarter with our smug revisionist condescension of past values & beliefs

Didn't they win the Super Bowl after the deflategate allegations came out? Didn't Brady win the MVP of the Super Bowl throwing a perfectly inflated football and while under a microscope against the best secondary in the NFL? Didn't the Patriots beat the Colts by 38 points in the AFCCG, do these Americans believe that the 38 point difference would have been null if the Patriots had that 1 PSI?

Politics and sports are not analogous. Political ideology is quite different from this situation. The Wells report deal is exclusively a matter of critical thought and objectivity, something many people lack.

One can be objective and think critically, and come to entirely different conclusions than you with regard to how the country should be run. I don't think anyone can be objective and think in a critical, rational manner and come to the conclusion that the Wells report was presented fairly and with a balanced, objective tone.

It's unfair to imply that those who supported Obama in his pursuit of a second-term "aren't very bright". There was another candidate, previous experience(s) with former presidents, the idea that politics moves slowly, etc, etc. Many variables in place. I'd have a hard time generalizing any group of voters/supporters as 'x' or 'y'. It cannot be done. You have to talk to each individual and figure out why they supported a particular candidate in order to get an idea of what they were thinking and why they voted for the person in question.
You lost me at "critical thought and objectivity". Sorry. If you are talking of a news media and Hollywood controlled function of convincing sheep because a outstanding human being like Bill Maher says so....I guess so much for that theory.

So we have the same thing going on when major or minor sports pundits tell the people that Brady is bad...vote for Roger.

Is that a fair statement?

I saw a response from a guy who hates the Patriots and is a true Colts fan, but says the attacks on Brady were ridiculous to the point of embarrassing (paraphrasing) . To that guy's credit...objectivity

Lou Gehrig was a Yankee so "f" him...

I was aware ALS existed.. I didn't need to publicly give myself pneumonia to prove it..

More proof this country is dumb.. donated millions for research on a disease that has no cure...

How's your post relevant to my original point? I don't understand what you're arguing.

My post had nothing to do with Bill Maher, Hollywood, nor the news media. Nor did it have anything to do with Rodger Goodell or Tom Brady.

It related to the Wells Report, the willingness of Americans (and people in general) to believe the report at face value and determine (7 out of 10) that New England should vacate their Super Bowl victory based on the aforementioned. My post then went on to state that to imply that everyone who voted for Obama is unintelligent (or something along those lines) is an unfair generalization to make given the differences between this situation (purely a matter of critically evaluating an essay) verse voting for a candidate running for public office (many more variables involved).

My main point was as follows: to compare the two situations in question (Wells Report and voting for public office) is to compare apples with oranges.

I don't understand how your post relates to mine.

I see polls that quiz many Americans can't locate Canada or Mexico on a map, so why would I wonder if many of the ones polled are knowledgeable about the 2014 season or DeflateGate?

I was a very long time lurker on Patsfans, until I finally registered 6 years ago. The reason I finally registered, on this site rather than any other football forum on the net, is because I saw that the quality of posts here far...faaaar outweighed that what I found on the rest of the net.

In today's day and age, it's generally understood that the internet is the wasteland playground of the dumb****. Go watch any video on youtube, even say Tchakovky's 6th symphony....and even on that video, you'll STILL find at least a dozen morons rambling about politics and religion.

We really are surrounded by complete and utter morons. George Carlin said it best "Think about how stupid the average person is. Then realize that half the people are dumber than that."

It's not that there are dumber people alive today than were before. It's that now every dumb ******* has a voice, thanks to the internet and social media. THAT'S why we're seeing polls with 75% respondents demanding that the Pats be stripped of SB 49. And that's why the media is saturated with anti-Pats agenda, because they are catering to the the populous whose dumbest consumes their sensationalized garbage. And therefore, Tom Brady is cheater.

My point being, I find sanctuary here on Patsfans. Despite the internet representing the lowest common denominator of human IQ, I'm so glad that I find intelligence here on this site. Thanks guys, for helping me maintain my sanity. **** Goodell. **** the NFL. Go Brady. Rant over.

So, if one were to follow your thought to another logical conclusion, the effort to find a cure for cancer renders initiatives such as the Jimmy Fund useless wastes of time and money.

51% also voted for Obama a second term, what is your point?

The percentage for Today viewers was probably higher than the national number.

Anyway, whenever I want to get a feel for the thoughts of the average American sports fan, I go see what the folks at the Today show have to say. If I'm lucky I'll get to hear Al Roker mock Bill Belichick again.

It was actually 62%, but don't let minor details cloud your point.

And I'm willing to bet at least 73% thought Tom Brady and the Patriots were the greatest on the day after they won the SB in February of 2002. Timing is everything.

Breaking News: An estimated 73% of Americans have some degree of ADHD.

Here comes a thousand dislikes lol.

Not as many as I would have thought.

I wonder if people have noticed that the conservative media has been much more on Brady's side through this than the liberal (e.g. MSNBC).

There is no possible way to come up with a cure for ALS... it is an incurable disease...

Cancer is different.. however I get tired of getting asked for donations when I have lost so many family members to it...
