Maybe we could honor our past players like other franchises do. We could build our Aaron Hernandez statue at the main entrance to Gillette. We could have Zeke Mowatt back to host the Susan Komen game. Irving Fryer could come back and host discussions on Religion, marital harmony and juggling cutlery & investments. Terry Glenn could hold info sessions on BPH for the senior fans. Tony Eason could recall his career in an informative oral memoir entitled "I was the 1st metro sexual Patriot QB" Doug Flutie could host the Rohloff Family appreciation night. Ron Borges would have to host BB appreciation night. Wouldn't Goodell just love these brilliant marketing moves?

If Brady does sue, it would be a very good sign that he and his team don't fear having to turn over his phone records or face depositions under oath during discovery.

I'm not optimistic. Defamation is hard to prove, especially given the efforts the NFL has gone to to ensure that this investigation will look objective to a reviewing court.

That's the rub. The report ISN'T objective. This is where the NFL screwed themselves (which they normally do). Any lawyer and judge worth his salt would see it clearly. No testimony from Brady. What he did say you rejected flat out, as well as anything anyone in the Pats organization said as well. Only league employees were noted as trustworthy and beyond reproach. The indication of guilt on the first page, vs the "aw shucks we have no real proof at all, only supposition" buried on page 228, is not objective. There are so many more instances of non objectiveness. The NFL will realize soon, this was a grenade of their own making.

What I meant about objectivity is that the NFL went to what they will argue was an independent 3rd party to be a fact finder for what happened as a guide for their punishment. There is probably a contract stating what they wanted from Wells, which won't say anything about the report being subjective hatchet-job.

Defamation cases are very, very hard to prove in the US, even more so for a public figure like Brady. We like freedom of speech here, so to sue and win, you have to clear high hurdles to say that a defendant's speech has gone too far. Wells has dug up enough evidence to show that nothing in the report was falsified for the purposes of making Brady or the Patriots look bad.

It's likely to be the same outcome as when Vilma sued the NFL post-bountygate.

I have to wonder if Belichick has a nuclear file just for times like this. I would love to see him go scorched earth on the NFL and spill all the secrets he knows about some of the shady crap that has gone on over the years.

He kept his mouth shut over soygate but clearly at that press conference he showed that he has no patience for the topic when people bring it up.

F Kraft, if he doesn't have the balls to go against the league maybe Belichick does. Go Al Davis on their ass.

Bill will help where he can but I think he really wants to stay out of it.

True. I'm not even looking at defamation. I'm more looking at possibly an arbiter or whatnot for the punishment. Even then, I doubt the report is in line with what the contract ordered.

Ernie. Adams.

If Goodell doesn't show on opening night, will there be a "where is Roger" chant?

Ernie. Adams.

There are secrets all throughout the NFL--always have been, always will be.

While Belichick and Adams are great minds, I'm not sure that they'd stoop to the level of others in an attempt to unveil secrets or try to blemish the characters of others. Just my personal opinion.

It'd be great to see, though!

He'll have to show up, won't he? I'd have to guess that he'll definitely be in the building. The question then becomes whether or not he'll take part in the pre-game festivities.

If he does, I have that they hand out batteries when the fans walk in.

Anyone have the feeling that Belichick and Kraft are going to leave Brady out to dry and are willing to cut Brady and go with Jimmy G if had to.

I'm completely disgusted by what Goodell has done to this game. In claiming to protect the integrity of this game, this egotistical narcissist has fabricated scandals over routine operating procedures in the NFL

Heck - every QB prepare their footballs - Aaron Rogers admitted he hopes to get his overinflated ones past the officials. The officials themselves care so little they over-inflated the Patriots footballs to 16psi according to the Wells Report.

So what's their suspension going to be?

Frankly I'm glad the equipment managers do their best to make sure the officials AREN'T cheating by putting over-inflated balls into the game.

I hope Brady fights this with every fiber of his being and calls out Goodell once and for all

They took it on the chin with the fabricated "cheating" of Spygate supposedly for the good of the game. It's time Brady took the gloves off and called out Goodell and the NFL for their bias and hypocrisy

The sheer insanity of this is high comedy.

It's almost as if Goodell is trying to incite a crazy response/riot from the Patriots fanbase. SOMETHING has to be done to respond to this outrage but it must be a careful and measured approach. We need to get energized and start planning some appropriate response.

This over the top aggression by the NY Superfan/NFL commissioner cannot stand!
Honestly boycotting games without Tom comes to mind.

I am curious to see Jimmy G and I obviously don't want to miss the banner night. But I have little desire to take part in the farse of a game that doesn't include TB12 over this BS. An empty stadium would send a huge message. If I thought everyone would do it I would love it but no way it would work.

I say if Brady ends up not playing the first game fans should boycott the first quarter. Stay out in the parking lot or not sit and stay on the walkways. Show an empty stadium to a national broadcast, silence. That type of unity would send a huge message.

It may send a message but the damage is done at that point outside of new england. The best way to send a message is to win this damn thing again .

Noobs troll are always so transparent, GFY.

**** the NFL x100,00. For some reason, after Kraft's Phoenix PC appearance, I didn't think for a second that this was going to turn out like this. I'm now thinking the suspension is going to be in the neighborhood of 8 games, and that Goodell and his cronies are actually going to succeed in taking away any shot at another title for the Patriots this year. Unbelievable. And I hope I'm wrong. Trial by fire for Jimmy G. time.
I'd be so through with the NFL if it wasn't the only remaining sport that I actually like to follow.

Sorry, had to vent this somewhere. I'm just completely shocked not only by what the league is doing, but also the reaction and lack of support of TB from the rest of the league and other players--and yes I know I shouldn't be surprised at all. Jealous haters gonna hate. Just a fact of life.

Offer full refunds to every fan who doesn't enter the stadium until the 2nd quarter. That work?
