Why is NFL using the public to base its punishment on?

this isn't a court of law......I think Brady is completely innocent even if he requested to have the balls deflated to whatever.

the moment he was required to play with 16psi balls against the jets renders the entire NFL process broken.....the fact that 16psi balls could make their way to the field without a hitch means that 10.5-11.0psi balls hsould not have required an investigation

but here we are.......and whether he is most likely innocent doesn't matter anymore because things are going to play themselves out

my opinion is set because 1) i don't care about this kind of cheating given all of the other 'inaccuracies' that manifest themselves during the course of the seas 2) My opinion of the pats will never change.......even if one of their players has murdered countless people

I only meant it in comparison to Rice who was on video kicking the sh!t out of his girlfriend and knocking her unconscious. It's absolutely ridiculous how this has all played out.

Goodell is a reactionary commissioner. He rules based on public reaction. Spygate was harsh because the public called for blood. The Jets got nothing because the public didn't care. Same with the Falcons and Browns.

As I always said, Goodell sticks his finger in the air and sees which way the wind is blowing before he makes any decisions. I wouldn't be surprised if he does focus groups to determine if he can go to the bathroom to urinate.

yea brady should win the appeal.

Because everytime they haven't, they've been thoroughly thrashed after the fact. Goodell has basically been neutered by negative PR, to the point that he now relies on the public to tell him what to do. Although even that might be giving him a little too much credit, because as far as I can tell he's always just been this way.

Which, given how hysterical and generally stupid the public is, is a very bad thing.

Yet people are scared to start eating pizza before he does. To think he runs the NFL is patently false. I don't truly know who does, but a person who does this is an authoritarian type leader who doesn't scuffle when it comes to meting out punishment.

Three months for this investigation.

That's plenty of time to look into other alleged things the Patriots have done the past 15 years.

We keep hearing about systematic cheating. I'd like a report that would have checked into it and find no evidence of it. It would not shut the Hatriots up, but it would reduce their credibility.

Seriously, how could a team do dozens of things like deflated footballs for years and keep it under wraps? Crazy conspiracy theory.

the public reaction is all based on jealousy...fans need to justify to themselves why the patriots have been so good for so long and there team has been so horrible. could it be better coaching, gm, quarterback? no it must be cheating!!

for everyone on their high horse about "credibility of the game!" where is the outcry from fans whose teams employ rapists, woman beaters and steroid users? or against the falcons for cheating or the Browns for cheating? there isn't any outcry because they arent the Patriots...
