Page 163 two officials measured the balls at halftime, Clete Blackman and Dyrol Prioleau. Notice anything screwy? You will. When measuring the Patriots footballs Clete Blackman consistently came up with PSI readings .4 less than Dyrol Prioleau but when Clete Blackman measured the Colts balls they came in much higher than Dyrol Prioleau

When I read that I was thinking in my head, "wow, that poster should be a lawyer". Then I saw who it was.

I don't understand why it's odd that Brady would text Jastremski on January 19th after the allegations. Naturally he'd go to the ball handler. I do find it a little odd that they say they weren't talking about the balls specifically, and that's one of the few head scratchers for me on this one.

Brady does not know who the heck McNally is. He seems to talk to McNally through Jastremski. He was likely trying to see if they did something stupid to incriminate him.

McNally: Tom sucks...im going make that next ball a ****in balloon

Jastremski: Talked to him last night. He actually brought you up and said you must have a lot of stress trying to get them done...

Jastremski: I told him it was. He was right though...

Jastremski: I checked some of the balls this morn... The refs ****ed us...a few of then were at almost 16

Jastremski: They didnt recheck then after they put air in them

McNally:**** tom ...16 is nothing...wait till next sunday

Jastremski: Omg! Spaz

On October 21, 2014, McNally and Jastremski exchanged the following text messages:

McNally: Make sure you blow up the ball to look like a rugby ball so tom can get used to it before sunday

Jastremski: Omg

On October 23, 2014, three days before a Sunday game against the Chicago Bears, Jastremski and McNally exchanged the following messages:

Jastremski: Can‟t wait to give you your needle this week :)

McNally: **** tom....make sure the pump is attached to the needle.....****in watermelons coming

Jastremski: So angry

McNally: The only thing deflating sun..is his passing rating

The next day, October 24, 2014, Jastremski and McNally exchanged the following messages:

McNally: Jastremski: McNally:

Jastremski: I have a big needle for u this week

McNally: Better be surrounded by cash and newkicks....or its a rugby sunday

McNally: **** tom

Jastremski: Maybe u will have some nice size 11s in ur locker Tom must really be working your balls hard this week

Read the rest on pages 5-6 of the report.
It's obvious from these texts Tom was giving McNally things in exchange for lowering the pressure.

If he did know something, I will 'slightly' feel lied to about the whole thing. I know how great he is without a doubt, but it's just troubling that he would've lied about this.

I have a hard time caring about a QB violating a rule that's clearly not properly enforced, was put in only because of KICKERS, and then modified without sufficient thought, and has nothing more than "good enough" as its underlying logic.

We finally won the fourth super bowl and yet there's still feelin of having to prove more wrong.

It just never ends.

What did everyone expect? Complete exoneration from the miserable bastards that hate the Pats and would do anything and everything to tarnish the accomplishments of the team? Well done Roger, your toadies came through for you.

FYI, Breer spouting on about Belichick punishment...

Albert Breer ✔ @AlbertBreer
The league will look at discipline for Patriots coach Bill Belichick, though the evidence in the Wells Report makes it look less likely.
Albert Breer ✔ @AlbertBreer
There is precedent for "lack of institutional control" penalties ... Most notably ones handed to Sean Payton in '11 and Rich McKay this year

IMO this holds no water. While I don't think Payton should have been disciplined, the Bounty Program was PROVEN and was much more serious of an allegation. Similarly, the crowd noise deal with Atlanta was PROVEN and was much more serious, and it was not a coach or GM who was disciplined but rather a guy on the competition committee... In this case Belichick was not only cleared as not knowing anything by Wells, but Wells did NOT EVEN PROVE SOMETHING HAPPENED.
Payton was warned by the league on more than one occasion during the season about bounties.

Pats Fans .. Dear Lord

If they are willing to suspend him for it then I do. Regardless of if it's sensible or not.

BTW Scott Zolak is cracking me up on Twitter, tweeting "probably more than likely" comments every few min...

Tom will be hit with a fine for failing to cooperate fully, not because of his involvement.

Brady is a star. McNally is not. Brady does not want details of his personal life in anyone's possession. And you might feel the same if it were you.

I agree. Wouldn't Jastremski be the first person Brady contacted after he got off the phone with WEEI regardless of his guilt or innocence?

Some thoughts:

1. Almost all of the texts I find not at all damning, and I find the Wells interpretation of them so absurd that it makes me question his judgement. However, I cannot explain the deflator and needle references.
2. The balls are just barely below what the science expects them to be. What sense does it make to deflate a ball by a trivial amount?
3. I am surprised by the boldness of the claims by their scientific consultants given the tremendous amount of uncertainty. I wonder if they had to go outside of academia to find someone who would be willing to give them what they wanted. What happened to Columbia? I still think the scientific evidence is on our side.
4. That said, I'm not sure what to think of the whole thing anymore.
5. If the two ball guys were doing anything wrong, I would've thought they would've admitted to it and said Brady had nothing to do with it. The fact that they didn't tells me they likely didn't. Yet I still can't explain #1.

Brady "make sure you get those balls deflated down to 12.5 prior to inspection!"
"deflator": "I know, I know"

Repeat that every day, every week for over a decade and you tell me how there isn't an explanation for number 1.

I don't see how that makes Tom guilty.

McNally is a disgruntled employee who doesn't like being told to do his job over again when the starting QB doesn't like the feel of the balls after his initial pump.

Doesn't mean he's guilty of anything.

Not a single damn was given, because it was not the Patriots. This, though IS the Patriots.

Thus the pitchfork brigades.

This, of course, is the overriding truth of it all. It's the fact it's the Pats, and the age we live in...what would have been seen as nothing other than gamesmanship (if balls were deflated) becomes this huge, ludicrous THING.

Brady will get 2-4 games. $250k fine for the Team. Garop will impress. Haters will be emboldened but Team will be fine.

If the Colts kept their balls warmer on the sideline, that would explain the difference.

I totally agree. I was not trying to imply the Pats are guilty. The Colts could have kept their balls warmer, or inflated them at a lower temp. The Refs measurements could have been systematically off, or the Colts could be full of B.S. about their starting pressure. It just seems very unlikely that this is just totally random variation.

I must say, kind of wish there had been a way to keep Revis and Browner this season. That's a team I could see going undefeated.

If they are willing to suspend him for it then I do. Regardless of if it's sensible or not.

I'm talking about how it affects my take on Brady.
