People acting like losing dennard is a big deal. 29 other teams fanbases in the league are saying "who" right now

It seems like more of a big deal than it is due to the lack of high-end talent at CB.

Then again, I suppose they could be relying on Bradley Fletcher and Robert McClain to both have bounce back years...

If Darryl Roberts shows anything at all he has a golden chance to make the team.

Not a real shocker on Dennard apart from the Pats current shaky CB position. He was inactive most of the season, and there was no way he was seeing a 2nd contract with the Pats.

Wonder if there is more to this story than we know.. failed drug test?? did not show up for probation?? failed to follow team rules??

Could be anything, but doubt if they just released him on a whim.. they stood by him for 3 years, maybe they just have had enough.

Wow. Didn't see that coming.

Guess his post-arrest fall in the draft was justified after all.

I don't think McCourty will be making any full time move back to CB but would expect him to see some action there on certain packages. I'm not really sure what Belichick is up to in regards to the CB situation but have to give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm not suggesting they will be as good at CB as they were last season, I don't think they can be, however I don't believe the situation will be as bad as many are viewing it right now. The named aren't there, that's for certain but it's still spring and there is a long way to go until any real football is played. The past couple of seasons the Patriots have found players to play significant roles for them long after the draft was over and I would expect that to be the case with the CB's this year. They have plenty of cap space and they will have more extra draft picks next draft so they will be able to make trades when they present themselves. It may be wishful thinking but Belichicks track record in fixing problem positions is long and I have confidence he can find help at CB before our during the 2015 season. Part of the fix is clearly going to be scheme but I believe at least one of the starting corners isn't on the roster yet, we will see what happens?

Too bad, really, but it shows (again) that there's the talent/skill set aspect to analyzing a player, and there's the other stuff....with "the other stuff" being this big bucket including dedication, smarts, work ethic, coachability, etc. etc.

It sure seems like Dennard has/had the raw talent to succeed in this league, but it looks like (from this admittedly outside perspective) that he wasn't able or willing to provide the necessary focus to excel.

Really not that surprised, healthy scratch for much of the season last year and when he did play he looked bad. If BB doesn't think you are buying in and your release frees up $1.5m you are a goner.

We need to bring in someone with Browner's height. He was our answer to the 6'5" Chris Matthews in the SB.

I would try to wrangle a trade for Sean Smith with Andy Reid and the Chiefs, if the price were reasonable. Smith is going into a contract year and has a $7.5M cap hit. The Chiefs drafted Marcus Peters, and have Phillip Gaines and Marcus Cooper.

And Smith is 6'4" I believe. Hope they can make it happen.

Butler does not worry me the kid has shown he can play. Now who plays the other corner that is something to get nervous about

Now I wish they had kept Browner.

Been starting to wonder if DMac might be moving back to corner.

Harmon, Chung, and Richards our second rd pick seems better than anything we have at CB.

Assuming DMac can make the switch back in theory the depth looks better that way. As long as DMac can do it.

I know there was sarcasm but you might have a point. Read that Richards played a little CB. Could this be a possibility? One of the best 3 cones and upped his speed to 4.48. One report says he can cover because he is smart and takes good angles (Safety stuff) and the other says not so much. Who knows? I am leaning toward nothing more than Tavon Wilson II. But the kid almost looks as chiseled as I.

We need to bring in someone with Browner's height. He was our answer to the 6'5" Chris Wallace in the SB.

There's only a handful of corners over 6'2" in the league, and most wouldn't be in the league if not for the fact they were over 6'2".

lol who will be playing outside corner?

Now I wish they had kept Browner.

I dunno, are you willing to accept all of his penalties.. imagine if he was not paired with Revis.. 15 penalties in 15 games is above the norm.

You are who you roll with ... Dennard's been rolling with the wrong people .... the news release is a cover for it...IMO.

This is exactly what I am thinking. Some said he didn't "buy in" to what I don't know but I am sure BB knows.

Wasn't Dennard replaced by Butler for being ineffective in the second half of the SB?
