Doug Martin's 5th year option was declined by the Bucs, making him a free agent next season. As a low-risk one-year rental and potential Vereen replacement, I'd give them a call to see how interested they are in moving on.

As a rookie, Martin rushed for 1,454 yards and added 49 receptions for 472 yards. The receptions are especially impressive because it's similar to Vereen's best production (52 catches, 447 yards).

He struggled with injuries and the coaching change and never got anywhere close to that rookie season, but he's still only 26 years old, has little wear from the past two seasons, and has a base salary of $1.3M.

Looks like a bowling ball ...........

two words...........MUSCLE HAMSTER

If available it'd be foolish to not see what he could do behind a line of Solder/Cannon/Stork/Jackson/Vollmer with Mason/Fleming/Wendell off the bench and in power formations...could be really interesting

I think most of us would be willing to part with a low round pick for that kind of chance.

I don't think it's written in stone that he's on the trading block though, just because they refused to pick up his 2016 fifth year option, as that would have been expensive. It's quite possible that they're either hoping to reach an extension by next spring, or that they're willing to keep him this year and address the position in next year's draft/FA.

Possibly. I think Schiano was higher on him than Lovie is though. They drafted some kid named Sims in the 3rd last year, and when he was healthy, they started to split carries.

We apparently asked about him last year around the trade deadline (though you can't believe everything you hear around the trade deadline). But FWIW:

I think he's done but I'd take him for free I guess.

He never looked like the same guy after injury. I'd pass for now.
