Simple statement of any GM who drafts the kid:

If he's innocent, he's welcome to sign with us. If he chooses to go back into the draft next year, we understand. If he's not cleared, we'll cut him loose. With the way the NFL rules are, we just felt it was only fair.

Anyone with a brain would understand that. Hell, Goodell might even get it.
Collins would also likely be incredibly grateful for that action and play his ass off for that organization. I agree that somebody giving him a chance is absolutely the right thing to do.

Has Josue Matias been drafted? Guard Florida st
nope, and if he goes undrafted I could see him in NE. Having 2 former teammates would be a good selling point.

This is the thing about Florida State. All of the offensive linemen are really well coached, which is great in theory.

But at the same time, teams know that Florida State OL are probably closer to their ceiling than others with the same grade, where additional training might help raw players more.

Just wanted to add, I really didn't like AJ Cann as a prospect - really average physically, did well at the college level, but I just never got the impression that he'd have what it took at the pro level.

An UDFA RB could pull a KT/Butler and play week 1. Curious to see who we sign.

Gray
Gaffney
Bolden
Cadet
White

Our RBs for week 1......eh

No.. There is a limited pool for UDFA..

And assuming he meant as a player drafted this late: technically, they could, but they are only given a limited amount of money to spend on rookies.

Right. Because anything done in the NFL is simple.

Let's assume he is innocent, and he does go undrafted.

So he loses millions of dollars. At that point, a team will definitely sign him. He's been cleared of any guilt that might have been attributed to him. Then perhaps he's only making UDFA money. Those contracts don't last forever. Assuming he's at least a decent player, his money-making years are largely ahead of him anyways.

And I apologize for being brash, but why do you care whether or not he loses millions of dollars? Are you going to lose sleep over this issue?

Also, I am not a fan of how you choose to stage your clear displeasure in my opinion, though I respect your right to do so. I'll just ask you to please refrain from using condescending language that plagues our otherwise pleasant fanbase.

Mike Reilly, Joey Mbu, Nigel King, Tre McBride, Tyler Varga, Austin Hill or Ifo Ekpre-Olomu would do me...

Donald Celiscar, Garry Peters, Ladarious Gunter, Justin Colemann Nick Marshall

I say to Collins:
"come sign here. When things get cleared up, we can do a restructure of your contract. Make it a five year deal with a bigger signing bonus that makes it equivelent to the #32 pick in round 1."

How do you think this would impact Malcom Brown? Would he feel slighted? Perhaps a bit cheated?

I think him being a late round pick would mean he can't renegotiate or extend for several years... And UDFAs can only make so much as far as I know?

Reactions: jah
this was a pretty solid draft. we fixed the lines, got a couple of pieces for back end help. exactly what we needed.

Teams have really no choice but to let Collins go undrafted and i'm sure his agent will go on about collusion. But he's threatened to sit out if he wasn't picked 2nd or 3rd round and if he goes undrafted he really has no choice but to listen to teams offers because he won't be eligible to for the 2016 draft.

Unless some team thinks they can convince him to not sit out he will be going undrafted.

Does it seem like Collins is innocent or is there no telling at this point?

Yes, sometimes it is.

My language was far more polite than I wanted it to be, and I said nothing against you. If you can't handle what I wrote, you should put me on ignore.

Alford to the Bungles.. Poor guy..
