Any lingering thoughts of the Patriots re-signing Dan Connolly are history now. Five years as a versatile, quality starter. Not bad for an undrafted free agent that somehow managed to persevere after four years of bouncing back and forth from the practice squad. One of his four NFL kick returns was very memorable too.

Josh Kline's days as a Patriot appear to be numbered, which is not a bad thing. Ryan Wendell can soon return to being a backup who can fill in when an inevitable injury occurs. Bottom line is that the quality of not only the starting offensive line improves, but so does the depth. Not an easy feat to accomplish when you lose one starter, and two in two seasons (Mankins).

ummmm.so you are kicking out Connolly and Kline, but keeping Devey????????

Poof! There goes CB Bobby McCain to the Dolphins. Here is a guy the Patriots wanted but they waited too long screwing around with safeties and DEs. It will be open season on the Patriots secondary next season.
Don't worry, Pats got Ryan, Butler, Dennard, Fletcher, Checkwa, Arrington. We got it covered, we are going to attempt to sack opposing QBS 150 times this year, our CBs will only have to defend 10 passes a game.

I suspect they were! They are depending on the late round CBs to save their secondary and now one of thier fav's is gone. They were very serious about this kid.

Absolutely! Because not selecting guys in the first four rounds and trading back are signs of serious interest. Too bad. There goes the 2015 season.

They worked him out privately and he had one of the top cone drill times at the combine

And they traded away a 5th pick instead of drafting him. It must have been love.

I still don't get the tiny compensation from Green Bay. This has to be the worse trade down--way down, in the history of the draft. Very weird. Why isn't it explained.

The 7'th round is great for Rugby players and Tuba players.....very important.

Who (team & player) are you guys talking about here?

They may just be doing them a solid.

Wendell : under 30, C and G. Proven winner despite patsfans haters.

Even with OL help, I am not ready to put Wendell out of the starting lineup quite yet.

Wendell is proven semi-competent.. He can't handle the likes of Suh, Kyle Williams, or Wilkerson one on one.. Or Ngata. And he can't handle picking up the late man on stunts and delayed blitzes..

I wish he'd go back to the old strategy of trading into the next year for a pick a round higher. That's a good way to eventually end up with a rolling second 1st round pick.

It takes two to tango, and I'm sure he's trying, but nobody seems to be falling for it anymore.

I quickly scanned through the draft day trades this year and didn't see ANY picks now for one a round higher next year. There were a few 2016 picks packaged in trade-ups in the 1st round, and a few more picks packaged into player trades prior to the draft, but no pick now, pay 1 round higher later types.

They may just be doing them a solid.
BB paying up on a side bet placed before the Pats -Pack game last year. Winner of the game gets hooked up in the draft. BB....honor above all

Its an even stranger trade back with the Packers when you see they have two 6th round compensation picks. So its a little disappointing we couldn't get their 6th

Man I sure am glad 98.5 gave us the heads up to stick around for pick 147. It was truly a riveting selection indeed!

Interesting. According to the folks on 98.5, the Pats called Green Bay to consummate this trade.
