a 5th round grade with one of the last picks in the 3d round isn't the worst thing in the world. I can be on board with this.

Still can't believe what we did in the 2nd. F***
its ALMOST like flushing the second rnd pick down the toilet. I'd bet a weeks pay that no one was going to select Richards before the fourth or fifth round.

Bottom Line
Grissom is still very raw and has plenty of football to learn. Some scouts believe he will test well and improve his draft standing beyond where the tape says it should be. He's not a plus pass rusher, but has draftable traits and an untapped upside. His biggest concern could be finding a true position fit.

This pick is in the thumbs up category. I like BB taking these high upside type front seven players every year (Buchanan, Moore, Grissom). We don't need immediate help at DE or LB so he'll have time to develop.

Brown :)
Richards
Grissom :)

Few more smileys Bill, please.

I am intrigued. He is physically gifted and being able to play in a multitude of position is interesting. I think BB will love to use Grisson as a Special Team-er and he would willingly use a 3rd round pick for a star at that phase of the game (which is a bit too high for me, if I am completely honest)

Anyway, like most here, i thought this was a ok to good selection, whilst Richard was kind of dubious pick. Grisson has the tools be an incredible addition for our team down the road and, perhaps, transform into a steal.

that's fine. projected 5th rounder...but we don't have a 5th so bill takes him in the 2nd.
just trying to spin this

As you know, BB has a different set of values than the rest of us, including the draftniks. I think he values tools over polish or skill set. One can be taught, the other can't.

Don't think he quite cares what the rest of us think.

Just watched 20 min of tape. Plays with great leverage and power. Not quick-quick but the "bad intent" shows up big time. He plays hard. Strikes me as a fight to the death guy...

I was talking about Jay. :)

Isn't he supposed to be a DE/OLB, not a DE/DT?

He lined up at the 3-tech pretty often in college. He shouldn't be trusted to play OLB. He's not fluid enough in space to cover consistently at this level.

He played over the guard some in college. His versatility is interesting, but he's probably too stiff to play in coverage. I like the pick.

His versatility suits this defense perfectly. If he takes to coaching I would expect him to be a very interesting player to watch develop.

And how old are you ? That you don't know (no ?) when to use new or knew ? You're a Rhodes Scholar right ?
I am old. When I try and type things on my iphone the letters are really littl and hard for me to sea. It wood be nice to be 15 again though. Your rite though, I was not a Roads Scholar.

Why didn't his parents just go with "Gene" or "Geno".... "Geneo" just screams I can't make up my mind....

His first name drives me crazy, to be honest

Every year we see it here. Most of the people here watch Kiper the night of the draft and base their judgement of the draft on what he says, or some hack who works for some other sports source, probably making $35k a year. If they were any good they would be working for the NFL making huge money, but they aren't. Then when BB picks someone at a different point than Mel has him going we get to listen to people whine and complain for weeks about how stupid BB is, and how he is trying to screw over the Patriots, and how he is an awful GM, and how Brady bails him out year after year. These people very rarely watch college games, have no access to game films, and don't have a clue how those players are, basing their complete and total judgement on 3 minutes of highlights and Mel Kiper's list.

It just gets old and repetitive. Of course for the last 9 years we had to listen to, well obviously BB is an awful GM, they haven't won a superbowl since 2004, at least that has changed to 2015 now.

Is that Gus or Guss?
Actually I am surprised you didn't say Gil!

Well I call him Gus for Gus Grissom-the astronaut. Lame but it works :)
