Can't we just be happy BB used a 2nd round pick on the secondary?
When you draft 5th round ability dbs in the 2nd round you get 2nd round dbs who have 5th round ability

Funny thing is, almost ALL of the guards I like for us are still available. Dismukes, Mathias, Koundjo, Douglas

Cool moment, good old Roger did something right.

Well here is the fact of the matter.

Richardson is on this team. We are not cutting a 2nd rounder and we are probably not carrying 6 safeties so someone is walking. Probably Tavon Wilson.

Interestingly enough both Richardson and Sherman came to Standford as WRs, then switched to defense.

Now we're getting somewhere. What else can we find common about the two?

Duke Johnson to Cleveland. Good pickup

Do you think the draft positions of Duron Harmon and Tavon Wilson are justifiable? Right now, I don't and in my opinion, the Richards selection appears to mirror both; a significant over investment.
I have no problem with Harmon. Wilson was a bust......I have posted multiple times BB isn't perfect but apparently you all who are criticizing this pick think player X would have been a slam dunk success over Richards.

As for the value of the investment........what does that even mean? If you think BB sucks as "talent investment evaluator" then call for his firing. Write a letter, get all the other arm chair GM's here to counter sign and present to Bob Kraft because its clearly obvious from the furry he, BB, has created with this pick tonight he is completely incompetent at his job as GM

People do realize that for most of Brady's career, he has had undrafted players playing guard protecting him. Only Mankins, Mike Compton, and Brian Waters were guards that were drafted that played in the starting line up. I am not concerned about getting a guard high.

****ing Wonderful !! Maybe BB will find a 2nd round talent in the 6th or 7th round to make up for this.

Football is won in the trenches, this team is not particularly strong on the Oline, plenty of Olineman available, we pick the slowest, worst safety available. We also have weaknesses at CB, and we draft a safety. Could have upgrade our WRs, we draft a slow as molasses can't cover safety.

Listen, you can ball wash BB all you want, and I agree, he's the greatest Coach of all time. But as GM, draft wise, he's not the greatest, not even close. Sure we've won 4 SBs in 15 years, BUT if he doesn't make such bonehead picks like this like he does EVERY year, we have at least 2 more. Imagine if we had a good defense in 2007 and 2011, we win it all, easily. But we had stiffs in the secondary in 2007 and 2011, who were drafted by guess who ? BB. Ellis Hobbs getting beat by Plaxico Buress plays in my head like a never ending video loop. Chung and god knows who getting beat deep in 2011. He keeps doing this, and seriously sabotaging his team's chances of winning SBs. Poor drafts from 2005-2011 doomed this team's chances. Great coaching masked it.
The 2007 defense was #4 in points against.

So wait a damn minute, we are butchering Malcom Brown into Malcolm Brown, and Jordan Richards has already become Jordan Richardson? My faith in humanity is gone

More likely Nate Ebner

Hey, Goodell ... There are only three branches of the US Armed Forces ... The Marine Corps is part of the Dept. of the Navy, and the Coast Guard is part of the Dept of Transportation until called up for war-related actions where they come under the Dept of the Navy.

You know its a WTF pick when everyone gets his name wrong:D

Great - - you're not concerned about getting a OG high, but evidently getting a ST'er in the 2nd was a priority for you.

Couldn't we get a ST'er later also?

The kid was in the car with his parents on their way to see his sister and had the draft on the radio.

Were you THAT afraid another team was going to snatch up Jordan Richards before the 96/97/101 picks?

.

So what you are telling us is that you with your draft book and by looking up the reports other people have written about them, you can draft players better suited to the Patriot system and have a better success than Belichick?

You do realize that every GM out there has a 50% bust rate when picking players at the end of the 2nd round.

I don't think your Draft book is as successful at predicting successful team building as you like to pretend it is. Not even other professional NFL GMs can beat these averages.

problem is Wilson was a second round pick just a few years ago. May not make his second contract

If you look at the second round of the 2012 draft, there are plenty of people who have done less than Tavon Wilson. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/rounds/_/round/2/year/2012

But, because few people's knew him before the draft and was seen as a reach, he is perceived as a far worse pick than he was. Well, both Tavon and Ebner will be free agents after 2015, and I don't see them resigning, unless it is at low money. So, it isn't sexy at all, but I think BB is very comfortable getting a core special teamer and a back up safety who will rarely make a mental mistake, even as a rookie, in round 2. Hopefully, he play the star position early and continue to improve as he has the past 3 years.

People keep bringing up draft value. I don't dismiss it. But take a moment and go look at our 2006 draft again. We absolutely killed it round after round and took guys projected to go in that round or a round higher. We owned the draft, except for that terrible reach in the 4th for a kicker. And boy did it pay off big!!!!!

He drafts at the bottom every year, then wins 12-16 games every year and 4 super Bowls. Who's opinion does he need?
It's all about the value that is available in the 2nd round. There are so many GREAT players that are available EVERY year in the 2nd round. We got one in Gronk. But to draft someone like Tavon Wilson and This guy, special teams players, is not smart asset management. Sure undrafted rookie free agents make this team, why, because he does a poor job of maximizing the actual draft picks. Great job in round one. HORRIBLE but typical bad job in round 2.
