Ah f*** Seattle took Lockett...

This is the price you pay for having BB as your coach. His ego is huge. He knows he can get him later... he has to know... I would keep BB as my coach but these picks are bad period. No defense.

Yeah, we suffer so much. Obviously the pundits know more about when players will be chosen than the coaches and GMs. It's that stupid Super Bowl. If BB wasn't so into winning that one game, he'd have more time to get together with Kiper and the other suits to find out who he's supposed to draft where.

This is one of those picks where in 3-4 years, I scroll through the 2015 NFL Draft wikipedia page and cry tears of sadness over several of the players selected soon after Jordan Richards.

Let's hope I'm wrong. But damn, does Bill's track record for doing precisely this not look good.

loved the first pick and hate the second. All the smarts in the world don't mean a lot without the athletic ability to make a play. How is this guy going to cover 6'5" tight ends or 6'2" tight ends with superior athletic skills?

We usually pick a WTF or an injured player that would've been a 1st rounder if healthy. We got the WTF pick. The ESPN profile of this guy is brutally bad. Forecast as round 6-7.

Why does BB pick these 6th round JAGS in the 2nd round? Sigh...

-- Is what we all would have said if Brady had been picked in the 2nd round 15 years ago.

In Bill we trust.

But seriously, now AJ Cann has to waste away in Jacksonville. JACKSONVILLE.

Roger Godell can't even read.

Dude is an absolute oxygen thief.

His ego is not so huge that he will intentionally sabotage his team to massage it.
I disagree, he does this EVERY year. Then when these piece of **** DBs prove that they aren't good, he has to go out in FA and spend a fortune to make up for these horrible sabotage picks.

You have to have faith in the people who might have more information that you do. Could he be a bust?? YES! Maybe he will be awesome ...we will see

Unless y'know...the Patriots scouting staff did have a 2nd round grade on him?

No Jimke is right. The scouting staff DO NOT give grades for the prospects, they only provide the scouting reports and how they think the prospect fits on the roster.

The Richards pick is a nightmare. Even if he works out, they could have got him later & it's an admission that they missed on Wilson & Harmon. At some point, blowing multiple second round picks on safeties with sixth round grades is going to cost this team a Championship.

So you liked the pick? You thought it was the best value we could get? I said I like having BB as my coach but this move did not maximize draft value and you know it.

.Belichick does not trust his scouts to tell him in what round a player should be drafted. Only if they
can make the team or not. This is why 6th round draft picks are picked in the 2nd round.

Really? Undrafted free agents make this team every year. Is that a reason to go for them in the second round?

Based on the response on this board, can the Pats cut Richards tomorrow? Why wait and force the guy to come to Foxboro and do all the media stuff.

People already have this guy being a bust and washout. Yes, it was a reach, but many of Belichick's reaches have turned into good to great players. Some prove to be bad picks too, but we are surprised a lot of the time with these reaches.

Ironiczlly, it is a lot of the picks we all think are steals that turn into the busts - See Jake Bequette for example.

Its not a reach if he graded out as the best player on the board when they went to pick.........it is only a reach because all of the arm-chair GM's here reading their draft guides and listening to Kiper's of the world think it is.

That's the beauty of the Pats system.....you know the one that has kept them competitive for 15 years and won 4 SB's and went to 2 others.........its not perfect and obviously has had its misses but it works and is the best system out there......the results speak for themselves.

I wonder if we'll take La'el Collins at 96 or 97.

As for Richards, that has to mean cover or a form of Tampa-2. It's a good way to compensate for the CB weaknesses.

Given Collins' ultimatum, 96 is also the last pick another team could acquire if they wanted him (on his terms). Might be in play.

They ran McCourty as a FS alongside Steve Gregory, who I think is Richards' best comp. I think we are looking at multiple coverages here and a wicked smart player like Richards at "SS" gives you on-field flexibility, theoretically.
