Malcom Brown calls himself the best player the Pats have ever drafted

He's not even the best player drafted by the Patriots from Texas. That would be Kenneth Sims, another DT from the Longhorns, drafted in the first round by the Patriots in 1982. Let's hope Brown plays better than Ken. Some of us remember him playing well only in his contract year.

Circumstances being what they are but doesn't he remind you a ton of VW? Family man, married in college somewhat arrogant but polite and respectful. Boy, I'm liking this pick more and more and the utter fear this pic, has put into other "contenders'" hearts is fantastic. Funny what can change in one pick I almost can't believe how well this may play out. Easley isn't exactly a scub either remember, Petesey traded out last year when the Pats took him.

My message to him would be the same message DMX screams out after the machine gun shots fire at the end of "Ruff Ryders Anthem".

Agreed all around...lots of people have brought up the Wilfork similarities and I think it bodes well, adding in his on-field production I think this'll be a pick that pays dividends for a long time.

Best pick ever, though...I think his new QB1 might take issue with that comment :)

I hope like the proverbial Babadook; being the last pick in the first round gets under his skin. That disrespect card and everyone passed on me/no one else believed in me card can always be helpful.

pretty sure he said that jokingly.

Welp, he just guaranteed himself some ridicule come training camp.

Ken Sims came to mind as soon as I saw DT Texas..

Meh. Just got drafted. On Cloud 9. Staring millions of dollars in the face. Lifelong dream achieved. I can understand getting crazy excited and saying something nutty.

He gets a pass.

Unless I'm misreading these I think most people are just ragging on him a bit, I'm sure everyone knows it was a joking/off-hand comment from a 20-year-old kid who just realized his NFL dream.

Though I wouldn't at all be offended if he lives up to that comment :D

OK, What the is up with someone disagreeing because I made a joke about Brown's comments, when the Patriots have the G.O.A.T. QB lining up under center?

What the hell is wrong with posters here nowadays?

We drafted a 20 year old in an early round named Gronkowski, who became the youngest rookie in NFL history with three touchdown catches in a game.

Maybe he's just saying he'll beat that record in the Colts game.

LOL.....a bunch of 'patriot way' clowns being critical of enthusiasm

this is how ron brace sounded: It’s really a great honor. I’m so gracious because going from [Boston College] to the NFL as a Patriot is a big dream of mine. I just can’t wait to get to work and start learning the system

How'd that work out?
