As is the case with Cannon, Fleming will be practice at OG. However, as with Cannon, Fleming is more suited to being a LG.

In any case, the POSSIBILITY that Fleming will be starter material at OG shouldn't stop Belichick from drafting a LG or LT/LG.

I agree with this. I've been saying that OG should be in the plans from the beginning of the offseason. I was just responding to the previous poster's concerns.

From what I've gathered, the team may be trying Fleming at guard this season. Not sure how comfortable they are with that, but he has been working on it based on what's been reported.

I'd be happier if Fleming and Cannon had someone else to compete with for the starting position ... but yeah, they could actually pan out

There will be plenty of good players at 64... and at 96, 97 and 101. I hope they stick it out and draft 4 quality players.

Would love AJ Cann but if he doesn't last to 64, I think Morris from Missouri and Gallik from BC would be solid choices in the 90s for the interior offensive line. I'm excited to see how the board shares out after 63 is called. Could go so many ways with it.

I will say this. Cann is probably the only guard I would take at 64 personally. I doubt he will be there and I don't think they should trade up for him. He is a good player though.

My list for today's picks:

The Likely Gone By the Next Patriots Pick Tier:
1) TJ Clemmings
2) Randy Gregory
3) Landon Collins
4) PJ Williams
5) Tevin Coleman
6) Rashad Greene
7) Denzel Perryman

The Possibly There at #64 Tier:
1) AJ Cann
2) Eric Kendricks
3) Nate Orchard
4) Ameer Abdullah
5) Ali Marpet
6) Tyler Lockett
7) Paul Dawson
8) Bernardrick McKinney

The Rest:
1) Alex Carter
2) Quinton Rollins
3) David Johnson
4) Duke Johnson
5) Tre Jackson
6) Jeremiah Poutasi
7) Chris Conley
8) Hau'oli Kikaha
9) D'Joun Smith
10) Josh Shaw
11) Tre McBride
12) Stefon Diggs
13) Mitch Morse

These aren't in any particular order, though TJ Clemmings is without a doubt my #1 right now. Not a huge fan of Eric Rowe, Ronald Darby, TJ Yeldon, Eli Harold, Jaelen Strong, Devin Smith, or Devin Funchess.

Darby or maybe Jalen Collins in the 2nd-3rd? Although I'm not even sure if we can even draft & develop CBs

Otherwise, I'm hoping for a guard like AJ Cann or Tre Jackson in round 2

I do not see Strong as a fit at all in this offense. He relies too much on winning jump ball situations and his route running is not nearly as polished as some of the other options in this draft (like Dezmin Lewis, for example). I think Strong is a much better fit in an offense like Baltimore's.
I don't disagree with your assessment, but receivers who do everything well are not available late in the 2nd round. Very, very, few WRs come into the draft as polished route runners, but that's exactly the thing that can be taught by a WR coach and veteran WRs on the team. I think he can improve -- I'm more concerned whether he can absorb the playbook. We don't need a polished guy to come in and start right away. But I'm not sure that Aaron Dobson or Josh Boyce are going to prove themselves worth keeping when they're contracts are up. I think Strong would represent good value in the 55-64 range to come in and compete for a depth role in 2015 and a starting role beyond, but if there's a corner worth drafting there, I'm fine with drafting Lockett later.

For WR, I'm hoping Justin Hardy (4th) or Devin Funchess (3rd rd comp)

I like Devin Smith but only in the 3rd round (if he slips) not the 2nd

No it shouldn't just on the sheer fact that they could easily get an OG in the 3rd or 4th that would probably be an immediate upgrade over Kline and Devey

edit: as a side note, BB said he has never been in a situation with a cluster of picks like NE has at 96, 97 and 101. he said a possibility of a trade up exists but that we'll have to see.

He could be referring to the gambling Bill strategy. Probably some decent picks (oline?) available, but with three picks bunched like that he has to be rolling the dice on one injured, or small school, or physical freak sleeper for the hell of it, with two picks to cover players who have value at that spot.

Not advocating for it, but a player to keep an eye on today:

@NEPD_Loyko: Sammie Coates would be the most attractive prospect for the #Patriots if they can handle the drops. Smart, Great Character, Well-Spoken.

That's pretty impressive. Goes right over to one of the greatest coaches in NFL History, shakes his hand, shows enthusiasm, personality, confidence. All things a regular college grad needs to do when entering the workforce.

Depending on how it falls, I wouldn't be surprised to find a top guard available at 64. Of course, if they have a preference, throw in a low rounder.

I think people are projecting the top two guards higher just because we need one.

I love Darby's potential, but I don't see any way that he falls to the bottom of the 2nd.

I could see Belichick trading up from 64 if his man is there.

I really think it's gonna happen.

As already noted, they can't deal 97 but the can deal 64, 96, and 101.

They can also trade #131 the 6th and one of the 7ths.

Plenty of chips to move up in the 2nd rd.

I see the Patriots moving up tonight for a CB...or at least I hope they do. The situation is critical. Once the run starts on CBs, and it is overdue, it is white-knuckle time in the Patriots draft room.

It's not only overdue, it's done. You don't pick up much better than we already have after the first round. Someone spent an 18 on someone so stupid he got himself kicked off his team just for being an annoying idiot, knowing the NFL draft was coming.

As Ron White says, you can't fix stupid.

Big Bang clock.

I think the Pats are going to try to target OL and CB today. Both of those pools are much thinner than the one at WR. I like Coates and I'm definitely of the opinion that WR is a need, but I don't see them going in that direction in the 2nd.
